I can't tell if the lines on the old Hawkman are in front of him or a silhouette. The lines bend around his torso and Gravity is pulling him down. I can't figure it out. Nor do I want to.

Never understood the appeal of Humerto Ramos Yep, he's not my cup of tea either. But like Liefeld, he sells books.

Never understood the appeal of Humerto Ramos I actually quite like Ramos. His art is an acquired taste, no doubt about it. When I first encountered his work in the pages of Peter Parker: Spider-Man in 2001 or so, I hated it. But over a course of months I grew to really like it a lot. It's cartoony and far from anatomically correct, but it has an energy and a suppleness of form that suits Spider-Man, in particular, very well.

I loved his art in Impulse, but was disappointed with his Spidey work.

Yeah, Impulse was great. I don't have any strong opinion on his later stuff - I generally prefer more abstract artists (I'm a 20th Century art history nerd) so I don't freak out when the body isn't exactly 8 heads high (or whatever that is - I can't draw!) but Ramos seems to have lost some of his kinetic pacing over the years and he's no Sienkiewicz when it comes to design and mood.

...Ramos seems to have lost some of his kinetic pacing over the years... Though I'm still a fan, I wouldn't necessarily disagree with this statement. I think his work on Spidey from 12 or so years ago was better than what he's turning out now.

Never understood the appeal of Humerto Ramos Seriously, who tried to pull his head off and how did Spidey survive?

Never understood the appeal of Humerto Ramos Seriously, who tried to pull his head off and how did Spidey survive? Words fail to convey how much I despise the "artwork" of Humberto (Giraffe Neck) Ramos
