I imagine the years of drug abuse -- particularly her colossal intake of cocaine and amphetamines -- had more to do with it. Certainly, it wouldn't have done her heart any favours. When this came up on Baseball Think Factory shortly after her demise, some regular whose wife is a physician said she said heart damage from such behavior wasn't a lasting thing. Who knows? Unless she was still using. Those habits are very hard to walk away from. |

A bit more obscure, but Robert Leo Hulseman, inventor of the red Solo cup, passed this week. In honor of this, I'm going home after work today and having a rum and Coke in one of his products. Generations of college students thank you, Mr. Hulseman. We salute you for many a wild night. |

So many deaths, this thread progressing so quickly, that I'm not sure if anyone mentioned Vera Rubin, an astronomer who played a critical role in the discovery of dark matter, yet. I have a nephew who minored in Astronomy as a fun topic to do in College and he had a pleasure of meeting her back in the early 2000's and he learned a lot about Dark Matter and taught me about that too. She did some guest speaking and he was thrilled to hear to hear her speak that night at a convention center in Portland Oregon. |

Whether that's true or not is anybody's guess, but I really wouldn't be surprised. |

I really hate that this life is so difficult that people have to use a drug to get by. |
