I just can't believe that Carrie Fisher's Mom passed away one day after her daughter and I'm utterly speechless ...

She could not handle planning her baby's funeral. I am so sad.

I give up. 2016, you win. Can you let us have 3 days of peace?
I can't say I'm surprised. Debbie wasn't young, had some health problems in recent years and this was the ultimate strain. To Todd Fisher and Billie lourd, my condolences. To everyone who has lost something this year, my condolences. I lost my best buddy 6 months ago, who meant the world to me and made the world a brighter place. This has been a dark year. People are dying in war zones, people are starving, people are abused. Let it end and bring some light for a new year. I just need to go listen to the wisdom of Eric Idle for a while...

You can reflect on life in a wonderful perspective by listening to Eric Idle ...

Oh goodness me. I cannot imagine how this must be for Billie Lourd, losing a mother and a grandmother during the holidays. My thoughts go out to all family and friends; no one should have to go through such tragedy.

I believe tingramretro posted about it in this thread at the time. I wish I had the time to watch all the Blakes 7 episodes. A couple of friends and I did exactly that a few years ago. Of course, we all remembered watching the show religiously as kids back in the late '70s and early '80s. But the show holds up incredibly well all these years later, in spite of its minuscule BBC budget.

Carrie Fisher was two months older than I am. My wife thinks her heart attack was brought on by the combination of "sticky" blood and sitting still for too long on that London-to-LA flight. RIP Carrie. I imagine the years of drug abuse -- particularly her colossal intake of cocaine and amphetamines -- had more to do with it. Certainly, it wouldn't have done her heart any favours.

A bit more obscure, but Robert Leo Hulseman, inventor of the red Solo cup, passed this week.
In honor of this, I'm going home after work today and having a rum and Coke in one of his products.

I read, somewhere, that Carrie was on heart meds. I probably should not have mentioned that without a link to the article of the mention.

When this came up on Baseball Think Factory shortly after her demise, some regular whose wife is a physician said she said heart damage from such behavior wasn't a lasting thing. Who knows?
