Greetings and felicitations everyone, my name is Antoine. I arrived here after watching "Beyond Transformers: Daltanious, The OG Voltron you didn't know you needed!" on YouTube. Outstanding video by the way. When it was mentioned in the video that there was a forum, I said "Sure why not?".. I have missed and longed for the old forum posting/mingling days. Places like this bring back good memories before all of the social media insanity. The days of AIM, Yahoo Messenger and Windows Messenger as well give me fond memories. Don't get me wrong I use TikTok, X (Twitter), Facebook, Threads, Instagram etc... but the forums were the good old days, so here I am.
I love comics, cartoons, and action figures. I used to collect comics and action figures very very heavily and ended up selling all of it a few years ago. I never stopped loving it though and started collecting again recently but not as heavily. I limit myself to a few comics and action figures a month and no longer follow that completist persona I had. I grab what I like of various titles or characters here and there and move on. My favorite decade is the 80s and I feel it was the best decade to have been a kid or teen and I feel privileged to have been a kid during that time. All of the awesomeness from music, comics, cartoons, toys to the food, TV shows and movies.. it was an epic time that has never been as awesome before it nor will it be as awesome again (in my opinion).
Some final bits of information about me is, I am a Bicentennial Baby, I am married and my wife loves Hello Kitty, Betty Boop, and Care Bears.. she collects them whenever she can. All of our kids are grown (Two sons and a daughter) and have been out of the house now for a while... so awesome! I am a grandfather of two as of 2023 (a blessing). I rock out to 80s music every 24/7 but I also love 60s and 70s music as well as some early 90s. As far as I am concerned today's music is trash. Sure there are some songs that I hear that are catchy and are a good listen but overall its trash music today. To me the worst song from the 80s is still better than what is considered a hit today. Once again just my opinion, and we all know what they say about opinions.
To wrap this up let me just say my favorite toy line is G.I. Joe ARAH, my favorite cartoon (although I like many) is Kidd Video (underrated bliss), and I love both DC and Marvel comics but DC is tops for me. There is nothing like a hard copy when it comes to comics, and I do grab them from time to time especially the Bronze Age stuff. I do like some of the new stuff as well and I subscribe to Comixology Unlimited for a lot of my reading these days. I think that is enough blabbering so if you wanna know anything else, you are gonna have to ask.

And, as the guy who was in the video, thank you! The day I won that battle with myself was a day of huuuuge liberation. I've started to believe that completism is the enemy of happiness and satisfaction, but it makes the companies more money so they keep encouraging it. If there was a way to empiraclly prove it, I'm pretty sure science would show that you are 100& correct here. The fear of nuclear war aside, everything seemed to be heading in the right direction. My wife collects Care Bears and Barbie. Maybe we need to launch a section devoted to the ladies! Your wife must be loving the Hello Kitty/Care Bears crossovers. I'm a few years away from that, myself, but I can't wait to get there. Congratulations. You are going to fit in beautifully here, my good man. Welcome!

Thank you for the warm welcome! I look forward to checking out your other videos and future videos, as well as exploring the forums. The Mrs. does have a decent amount of barbies, mainly the Fashionistas, Extra, and Looks line. No barbies have really caught her eye here lately though. She is loving that crossover and grabbed her first the other day with Hello Kitty/Cheer Bear. As for The kids being on their own, it is a nice feeling, and although we miss them, love them and enjoy when they visit... it is great to see them go.

My wife is all about the 65th Anniversary Barbie right now. But I fear I'm derailing the conversation That's actually a huge relief to hear. I worry how I'll handle not having them around. This gives me hope!

Love your avatar and tagline as well, awesome to have you! The Big 80's rock

Welcome 80sChild! I find myself in the same situation as you: our two sons moved away, and I read a ton of comics in the 80s. I played countless hours with my G.I. Joes, although they were the foot-tall Adventure Team version. Here's looking to your upcoming posts!

You can't get enough 80s New Wave; and in that spirit, a quintessential 80s statement..... I'm about 10 years older (born the day Gemini 12 splashed-down), a child of the 70s; but who didn't really develop my musical tastes until New Wave came along (though I was a fan of ELO, Queen, KISS, and David Bowie, before that). The 80s ushered in cable tv (my little town was wired in 1982), MTV (finishing up their first year, with few sponsors and more Canadian and UK videos than American), Devolution, Reaganomics, John Rambo, KHAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNN..........., Airwolf, The Equalizer, Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo SNL, Mary Lou Retton; Terminators, Predators and Jedi (Oh, my!), Pat Benatar, The Go-Gos, The Scorpions, Fine Young Cannibals, New Order, Bugle Boy Jeans, The Merry Go Round stores, Camelot Music, Blockbuster Video, ZZ Top's fuzzy guitars, John Mellancamp, REM, The B-52s, Wearing Sunglasses at Night (because My Future's so Bright), along the Highway to the Danger Zone!

Oh, you kids with your 80s nostalgia. When the 80s started I was out of college, married and wearing a suit and tie to the office every day. I was a kid in the 60s. We got to see the Flintstones with the cigarette commercials, and the first Japanese animation. And best of all, we bought Silver Age Marvel comics for 12 cents each! Welcome to the forum, just stay off my lawn.

(...) Welcome to the forum, just stay off my lawn. But, but, but... your lawn is so well-tended. And I love chilling in the hammock to read my 1980s comics...

Hello everyone, I am Guernsey. I am really starting to enjoy some classic comics but I also want to know more about them too. I actually started reading some old comic runs.
