Hello. Just joined after lurking for a good while. I already posted my origin story in the "50 years ago this month" thread so don't want to bore everyone by repeating it here. But if anyone has advice on how to get the link to a cover image I tried to post there to work, it's appreciated.

After you've added your image to Imgur: in Copy Link select "get share links." Then copy the BBCode link. Then paste that copied link into your post. The image will appear

Hello!
2nd generation comic enjoyer(it runs in my blood I tell ya) and comic artist! My favorite medium of storytelling is comics, and it brings me joy to see people close to me getting into it!
Whether you collect to store away in a box, to read, or to sell, I love this hobby!
I read new books weekly as well as buy classics on a weekly(almost daily) basis!
P.S. I also have a very extensive Wizard Magazine collection that I'm very proud of.

I thought you just sat there and let the light bounce off the glossy paper and bombard you and bombard you with images of improbably proportioned women and guys who could advertise decadurabol. I preferred my funny book news the old fashioned way..............woodcuts!

Hi guys! Loved comics through my childhood, from mid-eighties Transformers UK up to 2001 when I called it a day on monthlies. During that period I collected a lot of classic Bronze Age comics (and some Silver Age too). I've dipped in and out of comics since, occasionally getting the urge to pick up a run or two- usually Bronze Age stuff, or English translations of European comics.
My all time favourites are Miller's 80s classics- his DD run, DKR, Year One and Born Again. When I first read those, about 30 years ago, they changed my perception of what comics could be. It was a pity that the 90s was mostly such a pre-pubescent mess in mainstream comics... 1992-1997 were a wasteland with only a few gems, and also a pity that Miller lost the plot after 1999.
I've read little new from Marvel and DC in the last 23 years, and from the glimpse I've had that's not a bad thing. A billion variant covers that kills the collection desire, endless moronic #1 reboots, every character seemingly frequently replaced in their role, little work for so many good 80s creators since 2000, garish colouring for the most part with everything looking like plastic, etc. Despite the technology, they also drive me mad by getting so few classic reprints right- awful garish colouring abound!
That's how I stumbled across this forum- classic comics, in their original form, for me to enjoy and discuss. 😁
