Stole this from another forum - what does your weight loss equate to: I'm currently a bale of hay and some doughnuts, casting envious eyes at the aircon unit and dreaming about the elephant's penis. Wait, no, let me rephrase that! i'm just about an Irish Setter!

Avoiding alcohol is a big win - not just for the calories in it, but because (a) they are generally extra calories as the alcohol is drunk alongside whatever you were going to eat and (b) alcohol tends to coincide with less-than-ideal food choices in the bar (... and the 3am kebab from that skeezy place that's the only place open on the way home...) I have discovered that alcohol is a trigger that makes me eat. A lot. It's to be avoided. I agree. Everytime I drink, I get extremely hungry and very sick to my stomach if I am not eating a lot of food. If I could have a few shots of some straight hard liquor and not need to eat, to get it to go down, I would probably drink more often. But yeah, if I start drinking again - and only on the weekends - I gain weight really fast.

What an absolute gallstone of a week that was.
Had some really horrible news about a close family member that I'm struggling to deal with. Went to see them at the weekend and diet out of the window as a result. Even before that, making no gains at all.
Weather going to be horrible today so no cycling.
Starting the week off at 170.4, which is annoying, but the weight is all really really minor in context.

I'm so sorry about your close family member and I hope that's ends with a positive conclusion Simon and please keep us posted ... it's heartbreaking to hear these things ... Hang in There!

Thanks Mecha. Sadly, it's very unlikely to have a positive outcome, it's going to be more about time remaining and quality of life, though he has confounded expectations a number of times over the last 25 years, so who knows?

Back on the weight loss front, and into the department of ridiculous daily weight swings, today I'm at 167.8, 2.6 lbs down on yesterday.

Overslept today (was awake at 5am, didn't even hear the alarm at 6:30, woke after 8), so when I eventually got out of the house, the roads were really quiet and I zoomed into work, aided by that minor meteorological miracle, a (mostly) tailwind. All in all it was a nice fresh autumn day, brisk wind, overcast & cool ... hang on, how long was I asleep??
What's that? 1st of June, you say? That's another British summer off to a cracking start, then.
On the bright side, averaged over 17mph for the trip (counting only moving time, ie not stopped at traffic lights), which is comfortably the best since I restarted.

Heavy headwind last night, despite which I had a reasonable ride home - I'm either getting stronger and/or the reduced traffic due to school holiday week allowed me to keep momentum better.
Also mostly decent gym session though my bench presses seem to be getting worse - if Jez was still here, she'd be laughing at me!
Weather forecast for today had another tailwind. Fat chance of that - turned out to be an unpredictable swirling blustery cross-wind which made keeping to a straight line pretty difficult in parts, though conversely the continuing lack of traffic is a definite plus. The temperature is also still ridiculous for June - being cold through two shirts and two pairs of gloves is not what I regard as "summer"!
Same weight as yesterday.

Even stronger headwind last night, coupled again with unpredictable (and stronger) cross-winds made the ride home a real (cold) slog.
This morning had less wind, but was freezing cold - despite two layers of clothing I had to stop to put on my rain jacket to keep the wind out. Flaming June indeed.
Decent session in the gym afterwards.
Weight blipped back up to 169. Sigh.
EDIT: and another slog home as well. Still, managed 3 successive days on the bike for the first time since my restart, and 2 days in the gym with another to come on Sunday, so getting the work in.

We'll slide quietly past Saturday, which turned out to be Pizza Pig-out Day, and instead concentrate on this morning, where I finally found a time where my local 24-hour gym wasn't particularly busy in the weight area - Sunday 7am FTW!

Oh frabjous day! Something like summer has arrived at last - actually cycled in without gloves this morning, and it's supposed to be gloriously hot this afternoon.
Legs did OK cycling after "leg day" in the gym yesterday, though some of the hills were a bit of a trial - the more uphill homeward section will be interesting. Had another gym session today.
Still nothing happening on my weight (168.6, this morning), though it feels like the remaining belly fat is starting to soften up and disperse a bit. Am not exactly optimistic of hitting 164 by 10-Jun, barring a bout of dysentry.
