Avoiding alcohol is a big win - not just for the calories in it, but because (a) they are generally extra calories as the alcohol is drunk alongside whatever you were going to eat and (b) alcohol tends to coincide with less-than-ideal food choices in the bar (... and the 3am kebab from that skeezy place that's the only place open on the way home...)

Real grind on the bike coming home - c25mph headwind (of course) most of the way. Also seem to have kyboshed my Garmin account so I can't update properly

I have discovered that alcohol is a trigger that makes me eat. A lot. It's to be avoided.

Another weekend of fairly bad eating, but did go to the gym yesterday. Decent ride in to work this morning, which considering yesterday was "leg day" at the gym, was pretty encouraging - a bit of hamstring soreness, but not at all bad.
Weight blipped up after weekend excess to 170.4, which was less encouraging. Aiming for 4 days on the bike, 3 in the gym this week.

Started the day at 169.8, again.
Ended the day with 2 decent bike rides and a gym session under my belt - first time since restarting that I've done gym and bike commute on the same day, which turned out not to be a problem - we'll see how well that works on Friday which is due to be legs day in the gym!
Ride home felt pretty hard work into stiff headwind, so pretty surprised to turn in my best time of the year for that route, and only the 3rd time I've ever come in under 50 minutes, so pretty pleased with that. Not exactly Olympic pace for 10.66 miles, but then again the Olympic riders don't have to do their rides on roads full of commuters in cars or obey uncooperative traffic lights.

Gym yesterday, rest day from the bike.
Biked in today, just missed breaking 40 minutes (inward route is about 1 mile shorter and with less ascent than homeward route)

Finally maybe possibly starting to see some progress on the weight - down to 169.4 this morning.
Rather better, I've finally hit another milestone on measurements - down to 31" on my waistline, which is a nice round (or no longer so round!) 10" reduction from where I started
Cycle home last night was pretty quick, into work this morning was a real slog into, surprise surprise, a strong headwind. Had intended to go straight into the gym for leg session after the ride, but based on how tired my legs were, I decided I was kidding myself, so scrapped that - maybe be able to do that in a few weeks, but that's just a step too far at the moment.

4.4 loss but mostly because of a stomach virus that I had this week. Lets see what I weigh in at on Monday.

A nice way to end the week: 168.2 for 51.8 lbs lost. That's my lowest weight for over a month, and on target for 164 by my 1-year anniversary, if I can keep up a 1 lb a week loss until then.

Family gathering over the weekend, so made sure to hit all the important dietary food groups: roast potatoes, custard, trifle, chocolate and lager (not necessarily all on the same plate). I was therefore pleasantly surprised* to weigh in this morning at 167.8, just a hair short off a new low, and my lowest weight for 2 months. (* nb, English understatement, FTW!) Weight definitely back on a downward trajectory now: Also invested in some new (smaller!) cycling gear over the weekend - my existing cycle shorts were XL size and despite being lycra, were loose enough to wrinkle and therefore chafe in places I definitely didn't appreciate chafing. I've now got some L size which I wore today and they were immediately so much better. As I was unsure of sizes, I also got some M size, which are wearable, but distinctly snug around the waist - cycling sizes are distinctly smaller than normal clothes sizes - a cycling M is stick-thin, so I'd hate to think what a S equates - negative body mass, I suspect.

Stole this from another forum - what does your weight loss equate to:
I'm currently a bale of hay and some doughnuts, casting envious eyes at the aircon unit and dreaming about the elephant's penis.
Wait, no, let me rephrase that!

Weight definitely back on a downward trajectory now I should have kept my yap shut - weight has been all over the place since then, back to yoyoing a pound or two above that mark. Very frustrating after keeping to calorie limits and cycling 3 days. Sigh. Still, keeping at it. Managed 4 (including today) cycle days, which will be a total of 80 miles for this week, plus 2 gym sessions.
