While haven't been updating as frequently, I have still been weighing every week or two.
I continue to be stuck on the same plateau from June, but I guess I should be happy that I'm maintaining. Seriously - exact same weight for 4 weigh ins in a row! I even had my spouse get on the scale to make sure the digital readout wasn't broken (but he weighed different, so yeah, I just happen to be right at this weight no matter what I do (or don't) eat, and how much I walk).
Oh well. . as I noted the other week, I'm below my Stretch Goal weight of 180 lbs, so I guess I need to be happy that I'm maintaining.
anyways . . so here's the latest update:
2/18: 218 lbs 2/28: 209.4 lbs 3/6: 206.4 lbs 3/11: 205.2 lbs 3/18: 201.6 lbs 3/25: 198.8 lbs 4/01: 196.2 lbs 4/08: 192.8 lbs 4/18: 189.0 lbs 4/24: 188.0 lbs 5/07: 185.0 lbs 5/15: 183.4 lbs 5/22: 180.6 lbs between 5/22-6/12, I hovered between a low of 179.6 lbs & high of 180.2 lbs. 6/19: 177.6 lbs 7/3 : 177.6 lbs 7/15: 177.6 lbs (exactly the same loss of 41 lbs total).
would love to get off those last 2 1/2 lbs and be at a nice, even 175lbs. . but again, I guess happy I'm maintaining even when I cheat with frozen custard, or lots of casseroles.
So I suppose still. . yay me.

I finally stopped cheating and I am under 195. I weighed in at 194.4 this morning. This past weekend I ballooned up to 199 after lots of bread, donuts, alcohol.

I last weighed myself on 7/24, and continued to be stuck on the same plateau from June (177.6 lbs). . that, coupled with that we were SUPPOSED to be on vacation to Carowinds to ride roller-coasters from 7/25-7/29, put me in a bad place (since of course the trip got cancelled due to Covid. and it turns out Carowinds never even is opening in 2020 ) so yeah, wheels came off the cart, cart went into a ditch, flipped over a few times, and then exploded. . . started eating terrible - as if I were on vacation - and not exercising. I'm talking a lot of Chinese Food takeout. Luckily, after a couple of days of that, I got back on plan, and for the last week or so been back to my 1:20 walks & trying to eat healthy-ish again. so I waited until today to weigh, since we're gonna be having Biscuits and Gravy for dinner - so wanted to get the weigh in before that. Coulda been way worse! I'm still under my stretch goal, and actually *FINALLY* down ~1/2 lb from where I was stuck on that plateau. yeah, if I think that I could have maybe actually gotten to 175 if I hadn't gone off plan? that makes me a bit sad, but at least back under control again. And a neighbor stopped me on the way back from getting the mail yesterday and hollered across the street "dang, you look thinner than I've ever seen you!" So that was nice. anyways . . so here's the latest update: 2/18: 218 lbs 2/28: 209.4 lbs 3/6: 206.4 lbs 3/11: 205.2 lbs 3/18: 201.6 lbs 3/25: 198.8 lbs 4/01: 196.2 lbs 4/08: 192.8 lbs 4/18: 189.0 lbs 4/24: 188.0 lbs 5/07: 185.0 lbs 5/15: 183.4 lbs 5/22: 180.6 lbs between 5/22-6/12, I hovered between a low of 179.6 lbs & high of 180.2 lbs. 6/19: 177.6 lbs 7/3 : 177.6 lbs 7/15: 177.6 lbs 7/24: 177.6 lbs 8/06: 177.2 lbs (so total loss of ~41.5 lbs total). would love to get off those last 2 lbs and be at a nice, even 175lbs tho. . we shall see. At least got past the plateau, even if only by ~1/2 a lb.

Today I was 193.4. But I've been stuck at 193 for over a week now. On the bright side, I had a general check up and my doctor told me I was healthy and to keep doing what I was doing. I plan to shake my eating up a bit by doing a 24 hour fast twice a week.

Today is exactly 6 months since I got back on my healthy plan, to drop the ~40 lbs I had put back on since dropping the 70lb total.
yep, I started my daily walks on 2/18, and other than a few days here and there, I've gone every day the past 6 months.
Today I weighted in at 174.5 - so below that *magic* 175lb I had in my head. A total of 43 1/2 lbs)
I wish I could see it, but even in pics, all I see is "fat' - and I think I'm always gonna see that when I see myself.
at least the hysterical "tan" I've gotten keeps me distracted.. . nice 'only mid-leg', and 'wifebeater' tan lines i've got going. LOL

It worked out well for Bert, so following his lead, I'm going to track my progress here. I weighed 190 still this morning. My goal is to get down to 165 by Sep 1st. I don't know what a healthy weight is for me, but I'm pretty sure it's somewhere around 150. I think once I near 160 though, I won't look ridiculous in the cool Punisher shirt somebody bought for my ages ago that has been stored away untouched because it hugs my belly too much. So the analog goal (as opposed to just a number on the scale) is to look OK in the Punisher shirt. I also have the goal of doing ten pull-ups by Sep 1st. I can't actually train for pull-ups, because they're murder on my shoulders (but doing them a few times a year "just to see" won't kill me), but I think they're a good measure of strength-to-weight ratio, so when I get to double-digits, I'll know it's because of fat loss. Today I did six pull-ups, so ten sounds like a reasonable fat-loss goal. Four days past September 1st, here's how i did: Weight today: 175.6 Missed my goal by ten pounds. Not good, but I'm still moving in the right direction. Pull-ups: I did 11 this week. I cheated a bit, in that I didn't plan to train for them, but I knew I wasn't going to reach double-digits being ten pounds over my goal weight, so I trained for a week before getting to that 11. It turns out I can do pull-ups without hurting my shoulders now, so eight years of physical therapy exercises paid off a little. The Punisher shirt: My belly doesn't stretch it the point of being unwearable anymore: Not ideal, but it looks a lot better than eight months and 45 pounds ago.

You look amazing @draketungsten . Looks like a flat belly to me. Thanks, but I'm Hasselhoffin' it (sucking in my gut). If I wore something tighter and maybe had a sharper color contrast between my clothes and the wall, it might be more obvious, but there's no question I need to go down to at least 150. Now that I'm getting closer to that, I'm thinking I would still have too much flab at 150. I'm just glad the Punisher shirt is now not one of the "something tighter"s. There's a bunch of clothes I kept, saying "someday I'll fit back into this", but I wasn't sure if I was lying to myself. Turns out I'm not a liar, finally.

So I wanted to log in and tell ya'll about this great program I started called Noom. I'd seen it advertised on various places on the internet. I finally did some research on it and saw that they really get good results. So Thursday evening I signed up for the 14 day trial and I'm already seeing results on the scale and feeling the results both physically and mentally.
The program is designed not just to help you loose weight and keep it off, but to understand why you as an individual eat the way you do. It's designed to change the way you look at food and understand the triggers and reasons that you eat the way you do. It's to permanently change your habits so that you can come off their program and continue the new habits that you learned and make staying healthy a way of life. Not just a constant diet for the rest of your life.
It takes about 10-15 minutes a day where you read lessons and then they quiz you on it, to help you remember these lessons. They look into you as an individual to find what will be your ultimate motivation to continue with the program and change your lifestyle to a permanently healthy way. They even provide you with a personal helper that you can communicate with via their smart phone app if you have questions or concerns or need extra motivation. They come up with a plan that in every way is tailored to you personally.
Friday morning I weighed in at 198 lbs. This morning I was already down to 188 lbs. I am already confident that the annual cost of the plan, $50, is going to be well worth it and will keep me on track so that I can change my habits and understand my relationship with food better. One of the best bits of knowledge I've already learned about eating is "calorie density". Rather than strictly counting flat calories, you look at the make up of food. Basically calorie density is a measure of the calorie content of food relative to its weight or volume. So in the example they use in the app as you start your program, you learn that say a pound of grapes has lower calorie density than an ounce of raisins, and that the grapes will fill you up better so you aren't hungry as oppose to the amount raisins it would take to fill you up for less calories.
So long winded story, short, I would recommend it to anyone that needs that extra motivation to get to the healthy body they want.

J Maybe we can start this thread over and continue the eternal battle. "Eternal" is right. I started 2020 so good, but then started sliding right about the time I posted in this thread last year. I'll weigh myself tomorrow and then post weekly weigh-ins. The accountability should help. I swear, it's a good thing I never took any drugs. I can't even kick the soda pop habit. I'd be such a slave to any addictive substance.
