so Back on Feb. 18, I finally got on the scale, trying to "shock" myself into getting back on plan after knowing I'd been eating poorly and stopped exercising.
I was determined to get back into somewhat decent shape by my Birthday.
well, that is tomorrow, and as of right now? I'm 30lbs lighter than I was on 2/18.
of course, I'm gonna screw it up tomorrow. . but for today? I'm really proud of myself.
this week's update:
2/18: 218 lbs 2/28: 209.4 lbs 3/6: 206.4 lbs 3/11: 205.2 lbs 3/18: 201.6 lbs 3/25: 198.8 lbs 4/01: 196.2 lbs 4/08: 192.8 lbs 4/18: 189.0 lbs 4/24: 188.0 lbs (so down exactly 30lbs).
which puts me only 3 lbs from my goal weight, and 8 lbs from stretch goal.

I've got a lot to do to get back on track. I've had some recent health issues, of a personal nature, and realized that I have to make a lot of life changes. Getting back on my diet is one of them. Which started yesterday. When I started back in 2018 at 212, I got all the way down to 175 in March of 2019. And I maintained that for most of the year. For other reason going on in life I slacked off. I didn't gain it all back. I'm at 195 now. But I need to do it not just for weight loss but for my health.
And a part of these life changes is trying to lower my alcohol intake as much as I can. Not so much for weight loss but for my health. That's going to be the big hurdle. But if I don't do it now, things are only going to get worse and I won't be able to fix my problem.
Smoking is another change. But it's not as immediate as the other ones. I don't smoke that much, but if I am making life changes, I am going to make a concerted effort to taper off to nothing. Both for my overall health and for the financial gain. I have no idea how well I am going to do this, but for my wife and for myself, I have to do this, in some degree at least to better myself.
As a side note, I was introduced through an online article about the Mediterranean diet. I've glanced through some articles (since I am at work now) and it seems like it is a very feasible plan. Because it's less about counting carbs and calories and just eating from the right groups of food, and cutting down or eliminating the ones that are bad. The wide ranges of food and the health benefits associated with these food groups will have me looking into it further to see if this is something that I can work with. As the tedious task of logging every thing you consume and exercise I do each day, I would gladly give up lol
Also congratulations to all that have been working hard and are reaching their goals since the last time I posted in here. Keep up the good work everyone. We are all working to get to our better and healthier selves.

Hit my Goal today! I took a week off (of weighing, not of exercising) to help counteract 4 days of Birthday Cake (hey, only two of us here. . and that full cake wasn't gonna eat itself). . so here's today's update: 2/18: 218 lbs 2/28: 209.4 lbs 3/6: 206.4 lbs 3/11: 205.2 lbs 3/18: 201.6 lbs 3/25: 198.8 lbs 4/01: 196.2 lbs 4/08: 192.8 lbs 4/18: 189.0 lbs 4/24: 188.0 lbs 5/07: 185.0 lbs (My Goal weight! So down exactly 33lbs). which puts me only 5 lbs from stretch goal. but the most exciting thing?? I can fit in my Godzilla shirts I bought in Tokyo back in Oct, and figured I'd just have as Souvenirs forever. yay me!

Update after weighing last week (but not posting). . I'm tantalizingly close to my Stretch Goal weight!
. . so here's today's update:
2/18: 218 lbs 2/28: 209.4 lbs 3/6: 206.4 lbs 3/11: 205.2 lbs 3/18: 201.6 lbs 3/25: 198.8 lbs 4/01: 196.2 lbs 4/08: 192.8 lbs 4/18: 189.0 lbs 4/24: 188.0 lbs 5/07: 185.0 lbs 5/15: 183.4 lbs 5/22: 180.6 lbs (So down ~38 lbs).
so in just over 3 months, was able to almost lose back down to where I was before (yay) and puts me ~ 1/2 lb from stretch goal.

'Atta boy Bert.
I went back to my loosey-goosey approach of just trying to be careful of what I eat. I weighed myself today for the first time in a couple months and I'm exactly at my previous low point for this year - 190. I was expecting a disaster, so that's semi-good news. I'm going to go back to a stricter caloric intake and try to get back to losing at least 3 pounds a week.

It worked out well for Bert, so following his lead, I'm going to track my progress here. I weighed 190 still this morning. My goal is to get down to 165 by Sep 1st. I don't know what a healthy weight is for me, but I'm pretty sure it's somewhere around 150. I think once I near 160 though, I won't look ridiculous in the cool Punisher shirt somebody bought for my ages ago that has been stored away untouched because it hugs my belly too much. So the analog goal (as opposed to just a number on the scale) is to look OK in the Punisher shirt. I also have the goal of doing ten pull-ups by Sep 1st. I can't actually train for pull-ups, because they're murder on my shoulders (but doing them a few times a year "just to see" won't kill me), but I think they're a good measure of strength-to-weight ratio, so when I get to double-digits, I'll know it's because of fat loss. Today I did six pull-ups, so ten sounds like a reasonable fat-loss goal.

185.1 this morning. I'm going to post a weigh-in on Saturdays. My daughter's taken up baking brownies and cookies to alleviate her quarantine boredom, and I think it helps me to ignore them when I know I'm going to announce publicly the damage they do to my efforts.

Sorry I haven't been updating the past few weeks. I *have* been weighing myself once a week still, but I got stuck on a plateau which was a little depressing, as I haven't been able to cut back on the exercise - even tho I plan to. I find I feel guilty if I don't go for a walk, and I've got to get out of that headspace, as even a "short" walk turns into an 1:20 one, since I don't feel like I've exercised enough. I even actually gained a little bit (not much, but a little) as work stress overwhelmed me and had a really bad weekend of eating a lot of stuff that I knew weren't good choices a couple of weeks back. i got back on plan almost right away tho. anyways . . so here's the latest update: 2/18: 218 lbs 2/28: 209.4 lbs 3/6: 206.4 lbs 3/11: 205.2 lbs 3/18: 201.6 lbs 3/25: 198.8 lbs 4/01: 196.2 lbs 4/08: 192.8 lbs 4/18: 189.0 lbs 4/24: 188.0 lbs 5/07: 185.0 lbs 5/15: 183.4 lbs 5/22: 180.6 lbs between 5/22-6/12, I hovered between a low of 179.6 lbs & high of 180.2 lbs. 6/19: 177.6 lbs (l oss of 41 lbs total!). so in just 4 months, was able to lose almost back down to where I was at my lowest (175) and actually bypass my stretch goal. i was even able to fit back into my size 34 "Skinny" pants, I got for part of a cosplay outfit when I was at my lightest (tho I do have some Dad-Bod stuff going on. . but hey, not bad for 53!). anyways. . yay me!

I started my reducing again. I have been feeling physically sick and have to get myself in better work shape. I started at 208 last Saturday and am now 202. I hate starting over. Way to go @bert ! 175 was your low from years ago, you are knocking on the door.

Today I just went under 200. I ekked in at 199 and change and it's the first time I've been under 200 since maybe November? I have a check up next wednesday and would love to be under 195.

Today I weighed in at 197. I have a doctors appointment today and had hoped to be under 195 but at least I bounced back from an increase of bad eating on the weekend. This makes 11 pounds loss this time around.
