Nope. It's because us guys in the various "Hardcover Discussion" threads having been begging for a collected editions board (to avoid having the community spread across three boards). I reckon CBR's logic was that since most of the books we talk about are releases of material that falls in the CBR's timespan for "Classic" material we kinda bumped into yours. Well that's a much better answer. I must just be in a cynical mood at the moment. Too much coke, not enough comics.

Seems like every time I check in on CBR, another poster bids his farewell.
I used to find it hokey when people dramatically announced their departures, but in this case it is making a point.
And every time Jonah or somebody else points out that it is Jonah's board and it is a free service, I want to point to the advertising banners on the forum. I guess he will be making less money off those from now on.

At least one of the long-time moderators is not on board for NuCBR:

In another few weeks maybe everyone will have scattered and there would be no way to message them about this place.

To add insult to injury for me, I had not checked the Gladys Knight fan community site for a couple of weeks, and that is completely gone, too. No replacement so far.

Shax might want to look into trying to absorb some of the Rumbles posters that are jumping ship. Maybe give Khazam a forum here. Suggesting that to him got me banned for being "combative". I've never seen the ban hammer drop like that before.

Next banning is probably gonna be the X-poster who just re-started the X-Crescence chat thread that only hours ago got locked in favor of the "Yugoslavia" all-purpse chat thread. Is he really clueless or is it a form of protest, I wonder.

Anytime anything changed the internet hates it. I think the real measure of the effect of the changes is post count/ views, which I'm sure they are watching closely.
That said, going from Wild West to righted moderated is a pretty big change, and will almost certainly decrease traffic.
Perhaps they feel the news is enough to generate eye balls and ad clicks, and ten forum is extraneous?

Did anyone also notice how the "no thank you" thread vanished? I was on page 55, and upon clicking "next", to advance to page 56 (of 58) it disappeared. No warning about it up to that point, either. The most Jonah had said, in that respect, was that he had the intention to lock the thread. Really curious about what was said in the last pages.

I posted his quote elsewhere here (I think on the meanwhile thread?). Wieland announced deletion for 2 pm yesterday, about an hour after somebody had posted "that they're letting a critical thread like this exist should make us optimistic about the NuCBR."

THere are a few people posting classic-ish things on CBR... most names I don't recognize from before... should we be recruiting?

Was there some smile? Was the general tone of the post sarcastic? Because it looks like an endorsement.

Was there some smile? Was the general tone of the post sarcastic? Because it looks like an endorsement. The original post had not been sarcastic at all, and the tone of Weiland's posts when he logged back on after what I assume was a nap is best described as ... manic. He made a later post how he "could not wait to delete the thread at 2 pm because the thread proved how right they were to do what they did" and non sequiturs like that
