Wow, so sad.
Granted we spend a bit of our time and lives on the board, but this is sad. If we just make this a RITAS/Classic Comics area, I'm alright with it.

I was thinking yesterday what a great camaraderie I had back in the 00s with some folks from the old Joe Quesada boards. Even met up with a few of them in the UK once. When the board went down, we fled to a privately run like this one, but the people running it stopped at some point, and then MSN messenger went away and I lost track of all of them. I guess the rest of them kept in touch via Facebook. |

Good catch. Was there some smile? Was the general tone of the post sarcastic? Because it looks like an endorsement. The original post had not been sarcastic at all, and the tone of Weiland's posts when he logged back on after what I assume was a nap is best described as ... manic. He made a later post how he "could not wait to delete the thread at 2 pm because the thread proved how right they were to do what they did" and non sequiturs like that That sounds like a self-fulfilling prophecy. |

I spoke to soon apparently they did just that. pantaloonacy.freeforums.org/index.phpTHere are a few people posting classic-ish things on CBR... most names I don't recognize from before... should we be recruiting? Any plans on bringing over your Classic Sci-Fi Novel Reviews and Notes thread? I made a new one in the new Community board but I can just ask Cronin to delete it. Figures I put up my first review in that thread and the forum gets deleted.  |

I can't see the new CBR forums lasting unless it loosens up some. I think it will gradually become less active & die out. Having said that my new motto here is taken from Boston's 2nd album...

He seems to be bullying people in the exact manner he's threatening to ban people for doing. I've had three or four posts deleted so far, not counting the entire thread that vanished. They might have been rude posts, but they were in response to what I perceived to be misogyny, and what anyone would perceive to be as rude in the first place. Those posts stayed though. So I decided to remove myself from the conversation, there's maybe three threads I'd like to continue to participate in on that board. And a couple more I'd lurk in, not that I can't lurk after a ban, but it's easier to remember to check the forum if I'm not banned from it. |

Geez, this has been insane to watch. I'm frankly astonished at how the CBR admins are acting, specifically Jonah. His attitude is baffling. "We're going to bulldoze your neighborhood and you can build a new one, and you're going to like it and be happy about it or we'll evict you. Now smile!" Also, the irony that they have chased off most of the posters who embodied what they were looking for.
I agree that his comments in the negative thread were crazy toward the end. So much confirmation bias! Of course people are upset that years of community and history were wiped out without warning through no fault of their own. Don't burn down my neighborhood and library and expect me to thank you for it. Sheesh.
Thanks again for setting this place up.

It is definitely troubling to see even reasonable discussion of the new format being less user friendly being shut down. The old layout was pretty brilliant from a simplicity of use angle. It's also a drag to see the number of board members who never seemed like a problem that have decided to leave. I'm even debating it, and I had no problem with a restart that went back to the layout of the old forum. |

I have to side with Weiland over the issue of criticizing creators. Are people so callous nowadays that they're uncertain whether or not "no talent hack" is an offensive description? Come on. Certain people simply don't like it when their freedom to act like assholes is taken away from them. I think most of us realize that constructive criticism is usually tolerated (though there are certainly exceptions) so I find the feigned ignorance a tad irritating.
CBR obviously wants to be creator friendly and is simply not the place to act like that.
