Not quite new, not old enough for classic, but Amazon finally delivered the copy of the trade collecting the first 12 issues of the Abnett/Lanning Guardians of the Galaxy series that I had pre-ordered a couple months back. It hit our shop a few weeks ago, so I had been a little disappointed it took Amazon so long to fill the pre-orders, but it's here now, so I added it tot he read pile.

Yeah, I tried to pre-order it a week before release and was already getting the message that it would be three weeks before it would ship. I'm hoping it sells so well that Marvel puts more of their cosmic stuff back in print.
edit: I just checked and it's 1-2 months now.

The tone was light, the adventure exciting, and the writers showed great respect for the work of past creators. By that I mean that they acknowledged what had gone on before, and when they used the creations of others they did so in a way that did not diminish the older work. They also took care to preserve the mystery and majesty surrounding some of the MU's cosmic concepts: the origin of Knowhere, for example, is not revealed... and is far more powerful by remaining a mystery! The original Guardians (the ones who fought the Badoon) are given their proper due; Warlock's tortuous destiny is made more interesting than at any time since MtiO annual #2; items like the cosmic cube are used to great effect... It was a great run for old-time fans as well (I would imagine) as for newcomers. I hope you'll have a great time with that book!

5th edition already? Haven't played in some time, but didn't 4 come out only a few years ago? Six years ago, and it caused nerd rage at least the equal to the New 52.

Even though their titles suck donkey cajones, I have to give DC's trade department major kudos for putting out some solid trades of older books that deserve seeing printing again:
Ostrander and Mandrake's acclaimed run (and one of my all time favorites) on the Spectre is getting a second volume
Chaykin and Garcia-Lopez's Twilight... that's an outside of the box trade to put out. I really enjoyed this mini when it was out in 1990. Nice to see DC put out a Non Batman or Superman trade...
