Yes, that Gotham title with Ellis/Templesmith sounds decent, and I'd agree that Templesmith will be gone after the first arc. This sounds promising. Well the DC book is Fawkes/Templesmith. Ellis and Templemith did 9 issues of Fell between 2005 and 2008 and the tenth is supposedly done, but Image won't publish it until they have more in the can because it been on hiatus since 2008. Ellis says there are 7 more issues in the series to be done, but they aren't scripted, so it's a matter of schedules lining up for both of them I guess. I think some of the Fell scripts for unfinished issues were eaten the great Warren Ellis computer crash of '08. -M

Anyone catch this week's The Walking Dead? Fascinating development with the zombies. I had a feeling they might be doing something like this to shake things up. Course, it could be a red herring too... still, I'm interested to see where they take this.

Batman #34 Not a bad, fairly self-contained story. Didn't like Batman having access to super-science hologram projection tech. What's wrong with old fashioned latex masks? Bit confused about what the big deal about the Joker's cell was, as well as whether the last page was a plot point or just the artist being creative? Enjoyed the art on the whole, but the story telling was bit hard to follow at times. 3/5
Batman Eternal #19 Another good episode, lots happening. Love me some weekly serialised fiction. Only downside was little Ms. Perfect, Harper Row, who annoys me. 4/5
Fantastic Four #8 Found myself breezing through this one. Not much happened, and what did wasn't particularly engaging. Whole premise is a bit hard to swallow to be honest. 2/5
Transformers - Primacy #1 Wow. What a great start. Ramondelli's art, while always gorgeous to look at, sometimes lacks clarity in the storytelling department, but there's none of those problems here. A lot of plot hooks being dangled, nearly all of which hooked me. The only minor quibble was the clichéd 'hero climbing the un-climbable mountain to relax' introduction for Optimus, but other than that, pretty much perfect. 5/5
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #37 A villain centric issue. Some good banter, and plenty of action, as we pick up on plot points from the Foot mini, as well as advancing the main series plot. Extremely solid, as always. 4/5

Joe Casey is one of the industry's most popular writers having written for Marvel and DC, from The Uncanny X-Men to Superman, and many more best-selling titles, and most recently created and writes the acclaimed Sex series from Image Comics! Now he is tackling one of Jack Kirby's greatest creations, Captain Victory! And this story will Blow! Your! Mind! Out of the hell of a cosmic firefight, Captain Victory is launched into an epic adventure that spans both space and time! All your favorites are here -- as well as all-new enemies to face! Your new favorite cosmic comic book has finally arrived! If you have any inclination whatsoever, please support this book. I read recently the first issue is selling < 6K print copies and immediately bought a copy. Trade waiting will give this an early, and probably unresolved finish. Joe Casey's love of Kirby is cool and he along with Nathan Fox, Jim Rugg, and a name I didn't recognize Ulises Farinas, who's worked on Glory, Judge Dredd : Mega-City Two, House of Mystery, Savage Dragon and Transformers. I really liked it and look forward to more. I think it's great Dynamite is revisiting the Kirby characters. I hardly ever buy variants but bought extra variant copies of the Kirbyverse titles they offered a few years ago. Definitely a worthwhile read IMO.

Not a big fan of Casey's, but I pre-ordered this anyway because it's Captain Victory.

I happened to find a copy of the double-size commemorative edition of the death of Archie (Life with Archie #36) in a supermarket magazine rack the other day. I want them to sell more comics, and I want to read the story, so I bought it.

I think Archie's revised Red Circle now Dark Circle superhero line could be fairly successful because Archie never left the newsstands and with no one else there, for the most part, Dark Circle (DC ?) could be fairly successful.

Did Avengers World turn into Avengers: The Manga while I wasn't looking?

Don't be silly. Mangas are made by professionals.
I really liked the previous issue (2 weeks ago I guess?). But this was a big disappointment. Cheesy story accompanied by unacceptable, non-professional drawings.
Maybe shipping biweekly is not helpful in keeping up the quality of that book.

Is it issue #11 or 12. 11 was drawn by the artist of a creator owned comic from Image that was fairly successful both critically and commerciallty (as far as indies go)-Raffaele Ienco-called Devoid of Life and worked on books such as Epic Kill and others for Image as well. That panel is definitely not to my taste-if it is indeed him, but I do give Marvel credit for exploring artistic range by hiring an indy guy like that for a high profile book like Avengers. -M

Green Lantern Corps #34 Solid issue, with a nice twist on the John/Fatality relationship. John's tantrum at the end was a little bit over dramatic though. Liked the 'dead man's switch' tactic of sealing the hole in the hull. A clever use of the ring. 3/5
Amazing Spider-Man #5 Completely unrecognisable character pretending to be the Black Cat, check. Completely new character shoe horned clumsily into the book, check. A bit of a mess to be honest. 2/5
Spider-Man 2099 #2 Peter David doing what Peter David does. Bit light on action, but the characterisation more than makes up for it. Perspective on some of the panels was a bit weird, but art was otherwise solid. 4/5
Abe Sapien - Lost Lives Decent enough flashback issue, always nice to see Roger again. Getting a bit bored of this series though to be honest. It's never bad, but it all feels a bit repetitive after a while. 3/5
