Do I, at this point, like five “classic rock” (as opposed to rock & roll or rockabilly) songs? That’s the question.

Pretty broad a category, isn't it? "Classic Rock", I mean.

Pretty broad a category, isn't it? "Classic Rock", I mean. Divorced from its radio format origins it’s extremely broad. Using its radio format meaning it kind of becomes a self-parody of Boomer fan-wank. Honestly coming up with five songs from radio format “classic rock” that I’m not utterly bored with is tough. But...in the interest of trying... “LaGrange” - ZZ Top. ZZ Top is one of the very few bands I listened to in high school that I still enjoy. And even with that it needs to be their blues based work. If I never hear their MTV stuff from the mid-80s again it will be too soon. You could substitute “Waitin' For The Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago.” “Dead Flowers” - The Rolling Stones. At this point I won’t actively seek out the Stones. But I won’t shut them off if they show up. I still do like a handful of their songs enough to add them into a playlist. And it’s not as if I necessarily dislike the rest. I’m just bored by them. “Running Down a Dream.” - Tom Petty. I actually like Tom Petty a fair amount. Probably more now than when he was at his most popular. He just seemed a likeable guy making fun solid music. “End of the Line” - The Traveling Wilbury’s. Does this one count? I dunno. The Wilburys are the ultimate rock supergroup. And you can just tell these guys we’re having a blast making music together. And...Roy Orbison. “Carmelita” - Warren Zevon. I’m not sure if this one counts either. I really love this song though. I purposefully did not include Stevie Ray Vaughan because I consider him more of a blues man even though he’s played on classic rock format a lot.

I meant it to be broad. There’s a lot out there I don’t even know of are familiar with. It could be from Elvis Presley to Aerosmith. Me I was thinking of some of Prince’s song but in my head he’s more R&B than rock.
Also I forgot about Rolling Stone’s Beast of Burden. Excellent rock song. Especially for them, whose music I’m pretty indifferent too.
