Thanks for setting this up! Like Destro above, I mostly lurk but also enjoyed reading people's reviews and learned a considerable amount of "valuable" info about classic comics, artists writers, etc. Glad to see that some of the old threads aren't lost forever.

I hope to be a pleasantly, and productive - and at the very least not hated - member here! How do you feel about Frank Robbins? I rate him right there near the Severin siblings. Excellent visual story teller. Very graphic brush and pen work. -jb the "nudging Super-Dan's cape" ib -

Frank Robbins used to babysit my uncles/mother-in-law's/hairdresser's son. Did he tuck the tyke into bed in an odd, contorted manner with arms and legs flapping around? I almost choked on the lemonade I was drinking! Very funny! It's true but I still liked his unique & highly stylized art.

Just in case there was any doubt we'd be hearing from the Bad IB ... No, no not yet. The Bad InfoBroker is roaming the northern part of the country, a frozen, green hunk of slime, using his wicked powers to summons up and ally with the sinister Polar Vortex. You thought this winter was bad? You ain't seen nothin' yet! -jb the "it SNOWED here yesterday" ib -

I think we can officially count this as the first thread of the new board that Dan B. has taken waaaaay off topic. And you won't find me complaining about it. Good to be back home

Less than a day old and already the Frank Robbins bashing starts! It feels like home already. Presumably the Jack Kirby idolatry will will start up any moment.

This thread seemed to have started out as a discussion of mechanics for the site. With that in mind here is a status update of what I am up to currently.
Mainly for my own private consumption, I have been pulling down archive formatted copies of threads from an "ancestral" message board that I once was heavily involved with. There was too much work and too much history that I do NOT want lost. The earliest the pages seem to go back to is 2007, which explains why my post number tally was continually dropping. I have started with those early pages and while not all inclusive, I am cherry picking threads sound of historical interest, especially those that I remember investing a lot of my own personal time contributing detailed information and entertainment.
I think I have come up with a method that I am comfortable with for reconstituting the more interesting information and sharing it here. Anyway I will be posting a thread soon that will model it. It will not include posts from others, even those that are here. But any and all can freely post fresh commentary.
If the moderators here are uncomfortable with this format, I will totally understand your removing it.
My ego however, will be offended and it will summons the Bad Infobroker to post a lot of pouting and sulking posts in the most unusual places, Mainly on Dan B.'s commentaries.

Now I'm just plain intrigued... Any method we can find for salvaging old conversation is one I'm interested in hearing more about, so keep me posted. The essential template for it is in play. (See "Wit and Wisdom of Infobroker" thread). By reconstructing some of my old commentary, it avoids the issue of copyright infringement, as that becomes a new expression of a (previous) idea. As I was told by the copyright office, waaaay back in 1967, "you can't copyright ideas, just the expression of them." It's not a magic method. It requires a lot of manual work pulling down (think of it as research), and then shifting through a lot of material to find gems of interest that are worth re-expression. But for me it is worth it to preserve a lot of my old posts about this medium that we all love so dearly. -jb the historically sensitive ib -
