Thanks to shaxper. I've been meaning to be more active on the classic forum and this is a good opportunity to do so.

How do you feel about Frank Robbins? I am afraid I am not terribly well-acquainted with him. Our more sight-impaired members (bless their little black glasses & white canes) to the contrary, you'll want to keep it that way. Trust me.

Frank had a unique style that not everyone liked. Check out his Wikipedia page for more info:

I liked his frenetic style. I remember his work on Batman, Capt America, Invaders. Speaking of.

The folding of the Classics board and Independent board into one is weird. What do you guys think? Made about as much sense as merging the Music Forum with the Image Comics Forum. I peaked at the CBR boards, and unless I'm mistaken there are only three pages of archived threads for the Classics board. To see all the archived threads over at CBR going back to 2006 under Settings > General Settings > Default Thread Age Cut Off: Show all threads Also you can still log into the old CBR forum you just can't post. I found this helpful for preserving the old Inbox.

How do you feel about Frank Robbins? I am afraid I am not terribly well-acquainted with him. Due to the time I was born, most of my comics reading is from the 80s-current with some select classic stories (Claremont X-Men, the various Crises, Killing Joke, etc). I would love some recommendations on where to start, though! I do love vintage comics art, though, and I have some classics frames in my house. At the risk of incurring the wrath of the Netherworld, I like Frank Robbins. When I was a kid, I didn't like his work at first when I saw it on Captain America and The Invaders, but I quickly came to appreciate his work a lot more because it was unique.
He also drew some Batman, including some pretty good Man-Bat stories. And he was the main writer on Detective Comics for quite a long time, as a matter of fact, he wrote the first Man-Bat story. I love his constant stream of one-shot Batman stories in Detective Comics. He sets up a dilemma in the first two pages and Batman overcomes all obstacles by the end in a direct but inventive manner.
By the way, hello, everybody! Nice to see so many people making their way here after CBR showed us the door.

Could someone get my user name capitalized? I'm positive I did it when I created it, double-checked in fact. Don't understand why. Thanks.

Choose "profile" at the blue menu bar at the top of this screen. Select "edit profile" towards the top right. Select the "personal tab" on the top. Make your display name whatever the heck you want to show up as. **Your login will still be whatever username you signed up with** Enjoy!

Proboards has two ids. one is your login id (which is actually now a sort of uber-account for any proboards board you might visit), and a 'nickname', which is what comes up when you post. I'm not sure how the setting are here, but if you can change it, it'll be in the 'profile' section. It may be the admin (which I assume is Shax) has to do it...with everyone scrambling to move stuff/set up, I'd suggest asking again once things have settled in Edit: Sniped by Slam!

LOL, I see Mr. Robbins is fairly contentious. Now my curiosity is piqued, and I pretty much need to check him out.

Just don't say a bad word about Artie Simek. Such a transgression is punishable by severe umbrage taking.

Frank Robbins used to babysit my uncles/mother-in-law's/hairdresser's son. Did he tuck the tyke into bed in an odd, contorted manner with arms and legs flapping around?
