Many thanks to everyone who is making this happen! I was shocked and dismayed first thing this morning when I went to CBR, but this certainly has helped with my mood today, as I was panicked that I wouldn't have a place to discuss the type of comics I love any longer.

Wow! I'm afraid I wasn't really aware of the community in the Classic Comics forum on CBR, but with all the chaos, I really like what I've heard about it. I really appreciate what Shaxper and everyone else is doing in trying to preserve and restore something that had meaning to a lot of people. THAT I can definitely get behind, and I hope to be a pleasantly, and productive - and at the very least not hated - member here!

I peaked at the CBR boards, and unless I'm mistaken there are only three pages of archived threads for the Classics board. As for the Independent/Classics fusion, it looks like 100% independent right now... Perhaps Jonah will bring in the old threads later on?
Bummer. There were pretty good threads in there, what with all the "from the beginning" reviews and all... All that work gone down the drain! (The one-letter-off comics thread alone is a loss to mankind).

Anything you want to move, go for it! I know I'm going to grab my review thread for Kyle Rayner and the sci-fi thread for sure.. I'm looking at is as an oppertunity to an an index to the beginning! I haven't decided about the music thread yet... it's ALOT to move.

My hand is aching from copy/pasting all those Charlie Chan posts. Vinnie Colletta I'm sure knew a shortcut

I would like to add my voice & say thanks to all your hard work shaxper. I understand why CBR forums did what they did but the Classics forum was what they wanted. They should use it an example to emulate. Polite great interactions between posters with a real sense of community. Plus I pointed many there that had questions about older comics. What a great resource it was.
I too think it would be great to invite pros like Kurt Busiek, etc here.
Thanks again. CBR lost something that they really needed....

I hope to be a pleasantly, and productive - and at the very least not hated - member here! How do you feel about Frank Robbins? I am afraid I am not terribly well-acquainted with him. Due to the time I was born, most of my comics reading is from the 80s-current with some select classic stories (Claremont X-Men, the various Crises, Killing Joke, etc). I would love some recommendations on where to start, though! I do love vintage comics art, though, and I have some classics frames in my house.

I haven't decided about the music thread yet... it's ALOT to move. .... Welcome aboard! Thanks! The Music and TV/Film threads are where I spent the majority of my time, so I was stunned at the purge! I haven't seen any of the crazy stuff that led to this, so I was caught really off guard. The fact that so many great conversations and such great content from the music forums (The All Purpose Metal Thread specifically) are going to be gone forever is just heartbreaking to me! I am trying to find a way to at least locally download the ones I care about, and I don't know how other than manually downloading page by page. In any case, thanks for the welcome, and thanks for the effort.

Many thanks Shaxper, truly a Herculean task. And thanks for the PM you sent me on CBR to make sure I knew of the new board. It's nice to be invited.
As for me, I've decided to abandon my former alias of Jolly Mon. I've wanted to do it for a while, because I felt a bit like I was hiding behind it. My new user id is desinclair, reflecting my actual name, Dennis Sinclair. So nice to meet you all again, for the first time.
Yes, I still hate bananas. Not that much has changed.

Frank had a unique style that not everyone liked. Check out his Wikipedia page for more info:

I liked his frenetic style. I remember his work on Batman, Capt America, Invaders.

I summon the clarification!
