Big DC week for me: Action Comics #1072. part 3 of the phantom zone story. Again not a fan of the PZ but I love seeing Mon-El alongside Superman. Still not enjoying the Supergirl back up. Detective Comics #1090. new creative team Taylor & Janin. And they grabbed my interest right away. Looking forward to this arc. Nightwing #119. new creative team continues concepts from Taylor's great run and throws in an interesting twist with a gangwar. Great story and art continue to make Nightwing one of the best titles. Superman #19. great story by Williamson with gorgeous Mora art. Love Lois as Superwoman. Hope this title stays focused on Lois and the Daily Planet staff. Green Arrow #17. 2 stories. The wrap up of Williamson's great run and the start of the new creative team. Great issue!

I just finished Detective Comics #1090. They really really REALLY need to put a moratorium on redoing Batman’s origin for a while. A long while!
The art’s nice.

Thought "Absolute Wonder Woman #1" was an interesting read (won't spoil it for anybody). Certainly not what I was ever expecting from the book. Curious to see where it goes plot/story wise

I was really pulling for him, but man did DeMathis really miss sticking the ending here with his Robin Lives story. For one, it all just felt too rushed so that when we got to Jason killing the Joker it felt completely empty and then on top of that we got a flash forward that gave us Jason becoming the Joker for some inexplicable reason. It was going to be tough to pull off given we already got that plot in Return of the Joker with Terry uncovering that the elderly Tim Drake was the Joker reborn but with out any build up it just came off as completely half assed.

I'm really glad that although he's clearly doing his own thing Watters isn't throwing out everything that came before him and is actively trying to bridge the run before him to the stories he wants to tell. It's something that used to be commonplace where writers would really try to make it feel like one continuous narrative but it's fallen out of favor lately.

Yeah, tying into Joe Chill again is more than a little cheap especially as it makes it feel a little too much of a "small world" and they telegraphed the new villain's identity pretty hard right out of the gate killing any real mystery...but the character work was decent and the art was great so I'm in it for now.
