Not sure I am going to make it to the shop this week, but Comics Hub says the following are waiting for me when I do get there...
Absolute Power Ground Zero #1 Action Comics 1066 Batman: Brave & The Bold 14 Black Cloak 7 Blue Book 1947 #5 Department of Truth 23 Detective Comics 1086 Gatchaman #1 Gatchaman Ken Deathmatch #1 Godzilla 1 Facsimile Penguin TPB Vol. 1 Superman 15 William of Newbury 2 Zatanna: Bring Down the House 1
Fairly hefty week even with Conan the Barbarian delayed from this week to next due to a shipping issue to the warehouse of origin (which means next week is extra Conan goodness with CTB and Savage Sword issues coming out).

Just a forewarning to everyone, don't be like me and jump to Absolute Power before reading Action Comics and Superman. I mean, I should have known better myself and it wasn't a terrible spoiler of the ending as it was always a done deal that {Spoiler: Click to show} the Superman family would beat the house of Brainac but it did take the wind out of an otherwise decent finale to the Brainiac story. Sure, it was a little bit pedestrian after all the build up but it had a fun Saturday morning cartoon feeling to it that was none the less enjoyable. As for Absolute Power itself I'll say that I love Waid and I hope he can craft a compelling event but as introductions go this was a little flat for me. It was always going to be a little bit of a hard sell as I just don't buy Waller's "Super Heroes are bad and need to go" motivation but there wasn't anything beyond that given here to make it more believable. I'm still hoping for a fun event though, haven't had one that I've enjoyed in a very long time.

As much as I love Waid's writing, and is their best writer, but this event I can't even care for. DC's destroyed so many characters by making them not what they are, I just roll my eyes at their nonsense.

I've really enjoyed a lot of books in DC's latest Dawn of DC initiative, and I've especially enjoyed all of Waid's recent output for DC, so I'm giving it a chance. Worst that happens, I'm disappointed but I supported my guys who run my LCS and I dump them off to one of my dealer friends for credit to get other back issues I am interested in.
I'm not expecting greatness or anything revolutionary, but hopefully with Waid (and I think Mora) on board for the main book I am hoping I get an entertaining read. That's pretty much all I want out of any book I get. I don't really care about long term continuity to shred universe consistency any more, just give me a solid entertaining story, and if it features an established character, show that you get the core idea of the character (not necessarily all the fiddly details), and that's something Waid is usually good at, so I'm dipping my toe in. Like any such event these days, if I get anything, it's usually only the main book and the tie ins in series I already buy (like I did with Beast World-got the main series and Titans, none of the one shot or other tie ins). Though I think I did sign up for the one tie in mini that goes into Waller's origin this time (shrugs) but not the other weekly tie in series form the villains POV or tie ins in series I don't get. We'll see how it goes. Like I said, worst case scenario, Tony & Jared at Super Fly sold some books and I have trade fodder for my dealer friends.

What I did find interesting was the interview at the end of the issue where Waid talked about some of the under used characters he was planning on using in the story, I love when writers really show the love the medium as much as their readers and want to bring in characters they enjoy but are under used so hopefully they get a good showing here.

I haven't been following the whole Blood Hunt event over at Marvel as Blade as a villain just didn't sound interesting and the reading list seemingly included half of Marvels titles which was a serious no go for me, but I did continue to read Moon Knight and even with with out the context of the wider event it was...okay? Nothing fantastic by I really like Reese, Soldier and Eight Ball so it was decent to see them together.

Nothing fantastic by I really like Reese, Soldier and Eight Ball so it was decent to see them together. I read the FCBD Preview and had little interest. I read Dr. Strange and the event has taken over that book (and to me derailed what McKay was doing) as Doc's body has been turned into a vamp and the reg series is dealing with Wong guarding the body in stasis while Doc's astral self and Clea take part in the event. Joy. If I ever get the interest to read it, I have Unlimited, but frankly I haven't seen anything in the Doc issues or the FCBD preview that piques my interest enough to do so. Blade as a villain kind of misses my mark of if you are using an established character, get the core concept of he character right and I can ignore fiddly details. This misses that mark of what is Blade's core character pretty widely in my estimation. But if others are into it and enjoy it, more power to hem, I am glad its there for them I have plenty of other interesting things to read and spend money on. -M

I’m sitting here with Superman #15 in my hands. House of Brainiac is over and I guess we’re going right into Absolute Power.
I have no intention of reading Absolute Power.
But I see there’s an Absolute Power promo in the back, so I started to read it, just to see what all the fuss is about.
“Thanks to the combined forces of Failsafe and the Brainiac Queen, Amanda Waller has stolen the metahuman abilities of every hero and villain on Earth.”
Oh. Has she, then? Where does she keep them?
Not doing this.

based on the ads it seems she had a supply of Amazos they she dumps the powers in (perhaps just one? not clear). I haven't read the Moon Knight tie in yet, but I'll report in when I do

There's a superhero wannabe girl that Waller turns into a Titans-Amazo in the last Titans issue and yeah, it seems like there are more of them. I vaguely remember something about kidnapping TO Morrow too or something. I admit I wasn't super engaged

Amanda Waller is Maxwell Lord for the 2020s.
