With the beginning of our second week of existence, it seems like a new normal is setting in. Traffic and posting have died down considerably, and yet the forum is still VERY active, and their are a wealth of interesting new threads popping up. Thanks to everyone for your participation.
Some news:
1. I am in the process of archiving the entire old Classic Comics subforum using httrack. Should be completed by tomorrow evening. I do not intend to post any of it live though, for fear of legal issues. I'll simply have a backup of all we ever did in case we need it. I recommend that anyone interested in preserving the past similarly visit the link to download the tool and do your own backup. It automates the backing up process and makes it so that you can navigate the entire site offline as if it were still live (links work and everything). However, the software will take well over 24 hours to do this, so I'd suggest getting started soon. In this way, long after CBR has wiped away the archive, we can go back and repost individual posts and threads at our leisure.
2. I hope to have a final community banner up tomorrow. If you haven't already voted, please do so.
3. You heard me right. I return to doing my reviews tomorrow evening. I think the board is FINALLY running smoothly enough for this to happen. Depending upon my mood, I'll either begin by continuing my Master of Kung Fu or post a Batman or Superman P.2 thread and then later move those posts into a combined thread containing the original content.
4. Something to consider -- the one advantage to being on CBR for all those years was the amount of exposure the site had. There was steady traffic, constantly bringing us new forum lurkers and, often, new posters. We don't have that here. If you know of any places where you can promote this site (either online or off), please do so, and I'm very open to suggestions about what else we can do to spread the word. On Day One, Aaron King offered to build a front page for us, which makes it easier to attract internet traffic. I welcome any ideas you might have. We're not hurting for members at all, but I'd like to make sure the pool remains fresh and the community doesn't become stagnant.
Thanks, everyone!
