Alan Scott: Green Lantern #2Written by Tim Sheridan Art by Cian Tormey Summary: Alan tells Derby about how he knew the murder victim from his time at Arkham Asylum. Plot: If reading the above summary seems like a major drag then just imagine having said plot last an entire issue instead of just a brief sentence. The first issue set up an interesting mystery character masquerading as the Green Lantern, teased a villain in the Red Flame and had an intro to the Justice Society which seemed a promising start...but inexplicably all that took a back seat in this issue so we could explore Allan's time at a conversion clinic. And while it could have been interesting to explore how homosexuality was viewed in the 40's we instead got a shallow, poorly paced story that gave us no real depth or understanding of what Allan's experience would have been like. I get that we needed to see Alan's relationship to the murder victim in order for the story to progress, but then we should have actually seen that relationship form. The flashback should have started with Alan checking himself into Arkham and meeting Billie and showed us how their relationship grew rather than dumping us in at the end and just telling us how important she was to him. It's all one big example of why it's important to show the reader what's going on instead of telling them. Hopefully things improve in the next issue or I may be exiting. Art: The bright spot in all the doldrums of the plot is the exquisite art of Cian Tormey. The clean lines, clear details, and character depictions look fantastic, and I love Matt Herms's bright, primary forward color pallet. I just wish they had something interesting to depict. Grade:5/10

So far so good. But JMS has been known to not have good endings to his prior series. They sort of just fizzle out. At least IMO.

The story arc of what he's doing shines a light back on a part of the US that most try to deny which makes for compelling reading. Mainly Jesus Saiz's artwork is the draw for me. It's so nice!

I made my way to my lcs for the first time since I got out of the hospital a little over a week ago, so there were 3-4 weeks of stuff piled up from my pulls (and new stuff releasing tomorrow) but this is what I picked up, Not sure what is from this week and what is from previous weeks though, so posting it all together. Imgur seems to be down currently so I am using a workaround to get the pics posted (I'll try to redo it when I can upload them to imgur instead of stealing them form my hellscape account. This is trades, HC and indies Here's the DC stuff and lastly the Marvel stuff Haven't had a chance to read anything since I got home, but hope to dive in to some before bed. -M

This was the week of incomprehensible story telling for me. Flash is just so weird storywise that it isn't even entertaining. Dropped. Alan Scott was just a hot mess with reasons listed in an above review. Capt America was also all over the place and 3 issues in Saiz leaves the title to be replaced by Lan Medina.

Green Arrow was a good ending to the first arc with 3 pages setting up the next arc. Overall it was nice to see Ollie back in action. And we hurtle to the conclusion of Moon Knight as Marc's time as MK appears to be over...

Remastered/recolored by Jose Villarrubia. -M Interesting, I like Villarrubia's work but other than Dave Stewart on his Heelboy stories I don't think I've ever seen anyone but Corben color his work.

And we hurtle to the conclusion of Moon Knight as Marc's time as MK appears to be over... Moonknight kind of fell off the wagon for me with this last arc...there just doesn't seem to be enough plot over the course of the issues here, it's more just Marc punching someone or getting shot or punched by someone than an actual story. This run started out fantastically but this end is just rough.
