I finally put a comic up for auction the first time. It's a key issue (I don't think it's that impressive, though). I made sure to post pictures of the most aged/"damaged" pages. The bidding is more successful than I expected. I feel like I'm taking advantage of these people. I want to message them and and ask if they bothered to look at the pictures. The top bid now is 10 times higher than I would ever pay for any single issue. I think I'm just venting now so I don't feel bad when I take the top bidder's money.

Think of PT Barnum and take the money! Seriously, if it bothers you that much, keep what you think is fair and donate the rest to something like The Hero Initiative or some other charity of your choice. The psychology of auction bidding is madness and post-COVID collector mentality has gotten really insane; so, what are you going to do? Any market price is going to be what you are willing to take and what they are willing to give, and if they are that willing, then put the excess to good use and make something positive out of it.
