I went to the LCS yesterday, so this week's books weren't included with what I picked up yesterday. So relying on Comics Hub, this week's pulls are:
Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise #3 Gargoyles #2 (for Mrs MRP) Incredible Hulk 347 Facsimile Edition Midnight Suns #5 (of 5)

Lazarus Planet: We Once Were Gods I'm not sure I get the purpose of these Lazarus Planet tie ins, I mean I know not all tie ins always forward the story with most only exploring the background...but these seem even less connected than normal. Instead of exploring the background or expanding the scope of the event these vignettes seem like previews of books that are coming out later and as such I had little interest in the Aquaman or Martian Manhunter stories but I loved the Mary Marvel story. The mix of deep characterization of Mary, the humor of Hoppy and the action with Malik trying to help free Billy from the Rock of Eternity was just right and I'm really hoping this means we'll be getting a proper Marvel Family type of book in the near future.

Detective Comics #1068Written by Ram V Art by Ivan Reis Summary: As Batman battles a werewolf demon Harvey Dent has a tough choice to make if he wishes to help out his old friend. Plot: Ram V continues on with his story about the true Arkham family's return to Gotham City here with part four of Goth Nocturne. And while I really enjoy the upbeat and bold "Batman always wins!" characterization of Bruce and the dark, Gothic tone of the city the idea of the Batman having to yet again face a shadow cult that wants to burn Gotham down just feels more than a little tired. The dialogue of Bruce gloating about his contingency plans he has to fight the werewolf were fun though and I really enjoyed the dueling narration between Harvey Dent and his Two-Face personalities...but I just don't know how much longer the story will keep my interest especially as it seems to be taking a long time to get to the end of it. Writing for the trade has been a thing for a while now but it seems to get worse now, in thew past there used to be an attempt to make the story feel a little serialized with a main over arching plot connecting stories in the back ground but now instead of weaving smaller stories together to fill a trade they're just stretching out short stories long enough to fill the trade which is just tiring when there just isn't enough plot to fill it. Art: I really love Reis' Batman, the way he smiles as he fights the wolfman is just a perfect visual characterization of Batman for me; Bruce isn't some dour shadow, he's someone who deep down, despite the trauma that brought him there, actually enjoys the thrill of being Batman which is something a lot of artists miss. On top of that I love the moody back grounds which make the slick action scenes seem even sharper and energetic in contrast. Grade:7/10

So the big kick off for 'Dawn of DC' is.... the next part of an ongoing story.
Action Comics 1051 features the Kents officially adopting the War World refugees (which Jon seems not OK with)... I'm thinking this is to make the book more like the TV show.. they twins are not the same genders, but seems like it will give the book a similar vibe, assuming Jon goes off on his own (which seems like is happening).
I'm fine with that, since they aged him, the only interest I've had in Jon is his interactions with Nightwing to be honest.
The 'main' story I guess is John Henry Irons building a Baxter Building-like tower in the middle of Metropolis, and Metallo blowing it up. To be continued.
While this was a perfectly fine ongoing chapter of the current Superman story (which I'm enjoying, though it's far too de-constructed) as the first part of a poorly promoted re-boot? not so much.

I didn't read the war world story so I didn't really know who the twins were but I really liked the "House of Steel" concept being used here so I'm interested in seeing how it's used going forward.
