Downloading this week... - Batman 131 - Gotham City Year One 4 - Dark Knights of Steel 9 - Fantastic Four 3 - Spider Man 4 Batman continues to be competently written with solid character moments and fun dialog...but the plot of Bruce once again being "killed" and yet just presumed to be lost is incredibly tired at this point. Not only did Morrison do it ten years ago, but we got a similar plot on Future State a year ago and then again in the just concluded Dark Crisis event. You'd think an editor would have said, "No doubt, that's a great idea Chip...but we just did two similar stories pretty much back to back so how about a different direction?"

It was meh. The only thing I liked was the Skeleton Gordon.

How's Dark Knights of STeel going? I keep looking at it on the shelf and thinking I should be reading it, but then I remember it just didn't do anything for me after the first couple issues.
I could be convinced to get the trade though...

I could be convinced to get the trade though... I read the first two issues and kind of got bored with the concept. Elseworld stories are fun, but they lose that sense of excitement when you stretch it out too long. Batman but he's a knight and uses magic is cool...but not for twelve issues, there just isn't enough material there.

That's about what I thought of the issues I got (might have been 3, not 2).

I could be convinced to get the trade though... It's not bad as Tom Taylor is really creating a great story but the schedule of the book makes it so sporadic I forget half the time it's out. Once all 12 issues (and special) are collected I'll probably give it re-read.

I'm about 1/2 way through my pile (I think it was 3 weeks worth), and so far Joe Fixit #1 was definitely my favorite. I feel like in alot of cases with classic runs you can't really go back.. but for 1 issue at least PAD proves the exception to the rule. Also, the promise of a Vegas gang war between Joe Fixit and Kingpin is VERY cool.. I feel like this definitely should have happened back in the day!
One last one to comment on, not sure which week it's from, but Savage Avengers Is heading to an alternate 2099 where Ultron takes over with an army of Deathloks.. Jake Gallows is part of the team apparently, and they save an old friend from Hellrock... not like the best comic ever, but enough connection the original 2099 I'll probably grab this storyline at least.

I have a question about Joe Fixit. Although I was a big Hulk fan through the 70s and most of the 80s, and I even read David’s later run after Hulk was green again, I’ve never read any of the Joe Fixit stories.
But I really liked Joe Fixit #1.
My question: Is he Fixit all the time? Or does he turn back to Banner during the day?
I’m asking because I read that Fixit is the same Hulk manifestation as the surly, gray Hulk from Hulk #1.

I think at first he still turned into Banner during the day... but they had some sort of psyche battle and he was just Fixit all the time after that. It's been a while though, so I could be misremembering. Fixit definitely made it so Banner couldn't do anything... I vaguely remember him being trapped in a hotel room a couple times.
