As excited as I am by this, I'm a little concerned about spelling out Usagi's future twenty years down the line. I think Stan knows better than to write himself into a corner, but then will it be non-continuity like Senso?

Though Yukichi is in it, which makes sense but isn't explained why he isn't in Senso. I'm not really going to stress about it though, it's a Usagi/TMNT crossover, with a classic beginning, and what promises to be a great story!

Yeah, this adventure happens on their way to confront Lord Hikiji. I don't think Stan would kill off Yukichi in a cross over so perhaps he'll have him go off on another mission that has him away from the events of Senso? Or lost in time perhaps?

Well if this storyline is said to have happened before or after Senso, then it is imaginary/non-continuity because Senso was a story being told by Usagi.

Well if this storyline is said to have happened before or after Senso, then it is imaginary/non-continuity because Senso was a story being told by Usagi. Yeah, there is that hand wave as well, "Yukichi didn't show up in Senso because as Space Usagi said, 'Who knows? Records from that long ago are sketchy at best, mixed with folklore and myth.'" I still like that Senso is a possible future, so you're free to believe it or not. And while I'd love a closer relationship with Jotaro for Usagi and a happier ending in general for him going out after defeating some space octopi in a giant steampunk gundam was pretty awesome so it's good enough for me until Stan can come up with another one. As an aside, after having been spoiled by color these last few years I was thrown at first when I opened up the first issue of Senso the other day and it was black and white! It's just one of those things, although I've enjoyed Usagi for years and marveled at the beauty of Stan's simple black and white art in the past...it had nearly slipped my mind that black and white was the standard.

It's definitely set that way.. so it definitely had that same status...I think that's fine, I mean, turtle crossovers don't really fit otherwise anyway

Now that there is enough content, and since these stories generally occur outside of Usagi continuity (I think Shades of Green was the only one that technically counted?), I wonder if Stan, Peter, and Kevin will consider collecting all the Usagi/TMNT crossovers in one volume.

I would love a nice hardcover collection of the various Usagi/TMNT stories, perhaps even with some behind the scenes talk about the two cartoon crossovers the characters had. As for what "counts" I think all the previous encounters do for Usagi. Shades of Green is referenced in later stories and in it Usagi and Leo greet eachother as old friends and Raphael comments that Leo told them that he had met Usagi three times meaning that the previous three encounters in Turtle Soup, Shell Shock and "The Crossing" from Usagi #10 all count too. The later TMNT/Usagi crossover Namazu is slightly shakier as it's events ( I don't think) have ever been referenced in a Usagi story other than this most recent book...which is set in a possible future, so Namazu I suppose only "possibly" counts at this point. On the other side of the coin I don't think the events of any of these stories were ever referenced in the Turtles books so it seems that they are possibly not in continuity for either the Mirage comics or the later IDW continuity.
