Decent downloading week: DC - Batman: Fortress 6 - Detective Comics 1065 - Human Target 8 MARVEL - Amazing Spider-Man 12 I'm enjoying Detective, Ram V kills the mood and characterization of Gotham...but man is the story decompressed.

2 titles this week written by Jed MacKay:
STRANGE #7: Stephen &Clea are re-united (sort of). Stephen is now the Harvestman. He is in service to Death and him and Clea can not touch. Death & Life. Sort of like Matter/Ant-Matter touching. However Clea insists of helping Stephen get back to being alive. Love love this volume of Dr Strange showcasing Cllea.
MOON KNIGHT ANNUAL 2022. Moon Knight in another classic confrontation with Jack Russell the Werewolf by Night! His ex Marlene returns needing his help. Their daughter has been kidnaped by Jack and Marc goes to rescue her. This was a great story tying together characters from MK's past with the newer characters in his current series.

Moon Knight Annual #1Written by Jed MacKay Art by Federico Sabbatini Colored by Rachelle Rosenberg Summary: In the rematch of the decade Jack Russel(Werewolf by Night) kidnaps Moon Knight's daughter to kick off a new grudge match. Plot: Werewolf by Night and Moon Knight have one of the funnest long lived rivalries in all of comics, with Moon Knight actually debuting in Were Wolf by Night #32 back in 1972, so any book that brings them together again is always one for the win column in my book. However, while I've loved Mackay's run so far(it might just well become my favorite) this latest throw down with Jack Russel while fun fell a little off the mark in comparison to the rest of the run. For one, although the two have often come to blows over the years(over the course of five stories I think) neither has ever really come off as outright villainous to the other. Sure, Marc was hired by the mysterious "Committee" to hunt down Jack way back in his first appearance but it never felt personal and in the end he turns on the Committee and helps Jack defeat them...but here Jack kidnaps Marc's daughter and plans to anoint her with her father's dying blood before turning her into a werewolf in order to break all werewolves free from Khonshu's influence which is all mustache twirling villain material. And yet, despite that plot being straight villainous Mackay doesn't commit to it fully as he pulls back from making Jack being a dark character, he seems too soft in his conversations with Deatrice to convincingly be a guy who could pull off this dark a deed which creates a feeling of dissonance which kills the sense of danger. Despite that lack of stakes, and the fact that despite loving how she talked down to both Marc and Jack for their childish wrestling match I still really dislike that Marc has a secret daughter it was still a fun, action packed special that really fit the feel of the season. It's not my favorite match up by a long shot, but still well worth the read.
Art: Sabbatini kills it as usual with his tight, angular cartoony style but to be honest I think Rosenberg's colors are the real hero. Colorists are often the unsung heroes on books and even I don't pay them the attention I deserve but Rosenberg's phosphorescent whites and inky blacks are just too stunning to ignore. The contrast really draws you in and keeps you coming back for more.
Grade:7/10

I really need to get into the new volume of Doctor Strange, I loved the cover here and I've always loved Clea. One thing I forgot to mention in my review of the annual, do you think this should have come out last week? I don't usually get hung up on continuity but the appearance of Hunter's Moon right after we were led to believe he died just last week felt odd.

Action #1048 - Apparently Jon and Lois just are doing there thing.. this is 100% simply a continuation of the Warworld story. Lois is in the book showing the Warworlds kids the zoo, but interesting they're not dealing with Jon at all.. in fact, they went out of their way to say Supergirl was protecting Metropolis in the back up. Apparently our hero got the attention of New Genesis and Apocalips, so it's rumble at the Metropolis zoo time! More interesting is the sub-plot of people (lead, naturally, by Lex Luthor) being concerned that Superman has brought a whole colony of war-loving super beings to town...that's definitely the good part. Still no connection/mention of that event thing where everyone died, but I'm pretty happy with that .

Dark Crisis was pretty much swept under the rug, with Johns and Waid's storylines being the back bone going forward...which is good because despite liking the start of his run on Robin, Wlliamson was terrible.

Is Dark Crisis over? I kinda thought it was still going wikipedia has a REALLY detailed plot summary.. sounds terrible. It's still going on, but it's already irrelevant as the ending was already seen and mocked in an issue of the Flashpoint sequel by Johns(the heroes came back and the Earth was saved) and other small events such as Batman Vs Robin seem to have a wider impact on future stories than Dark Crisis.
