Getting one of these ultra-rare British Double Double books in VF is near impossible....so I'm delighted with this nab...
That is a hilarious cover! Are the little triangles torches? Kryptonite on a stick? I very much want to read that!
That cover originally came from Superman 184 (1966 thereabouts)...but not all copies of Superman Double Double 2 would have included it. Mine didn't, and had 4 other DCs inside (2 JLA, 1 World's Finest, 1 Hawkman).

That book has both of the Marvel Knights BW series in it? Didn't even know about this HC.
Looks like I need to find one of these... although I doubt it will come at the price you paid!

This post isn't about comics I've recently bought, but about comics I soon will.
For whatever reason, Chuck has decided to up the ante and start a 70% discount! AFAICR this the highest discount ever from him. So far the upper limit had been 65%, of which we've seen a few recently. It should also be said that the lower bound is 40$, so 70% shouldn't be compared with 0%, but rather with 50%, which is the average. Has anyone here ever paid the full price for a raw back issue over there?

I paid 'full price' once, for the first book I ordered back in the mid 90s. That got me on his mailing list, when his catalogue was sent by snail-mail (the internet store didn't exist yet). After that, I'd also make use of the gimmick discount at the time, which was a catalogue coupon as high as 50% off. He sent it to me every month for about a year. But even then, his base prices were batsh*t crazy and I eventually switched to East Coast Comics, which also had full page ads in comics. I was still a kid so my parents would send the money order after I compiled an order of 8-10 books.
His current 70% off sale is throughout September....if my dealer decides to place an order, I *might* get one book I can't find anywhere else. It's only available in VF grade, so no upgrade expected. The discount would reduce it from $49 to $15. We'll see....

Actually, I ordered 6 comics in VF grade, and only one was VF, while the other 5 were better. It's not that you can't get a better copy, it's just that there isn't as much room.
On the other hand, the only NM copy I ordered, had a tiny rip they probably overlooked, so that one fell short.
When I stated as a NICE customer, in the late 90's, they already had a webpage. I only started buying back issues from them in 2012, and recall getting very good prices, with many dollar issues, can't say if that was because of the base price or the discount, So I'm a little surprised to hear they had high prices 30 years ago already. I did use snail mail however, couldn't tell you if that was with East Coast Comics or who, my memory isn't great. I do remember sending $100 bills in an envelope, together with the order and the alternates; what times.

I also skipped sought after issues. With this limitations, I expect to get an average "overgrade" of 2+ we'll see. Good God! Prices have really gone up since I was collecting Marvel en-masse 🤯 On the upside, you bought lots of excellent comics!! 😁👍🏼 They average below $6 each, customs aside, so not that expensive, but before the MCU, none of these would've been more than a dollar, that's for sure.
As for labeling them, I'd say they're OK. Any comic I considered to be excellent I already had years ago, all this late shopping is nothing more than self-indulgence.

The average is $6? The prices on your list imply it's more like double or treble that? Are those just guide prices and not what you paid?
