I bought a copy of Marvel Collector’s Item Classics #2 off eBay. I should have it in a few days. It reprints Spider-Man #4, FF #3 and Tales to Astonish #37.
I had one in the 1970s. It was the first book I had with FF #3 or Spider-Man #4.
I bought it because Spider-Man #4 is one of my favorite comics ever. I have it reprinted in the first Marvel Masterworks volume, so I’ve been reading that over and over for close to 30 years.
But I wanted to have it in a smaller package so I could have it in my little nightstand comics library. And I’d also like to have a newsprint copy instead of just the shiny paper of the Marvel Masterworks series.
Those are good reasons, right?

Hardcover and oversized books are a chore to handle.

At the flea market I was able to pick up a half dozen early MAD magazines in decent shape at 2 bucks apiece... There were more bargains to be had, but since I'm going to a con next week (and have to take the car in for brakes tomorrow), I let them pass for now.

Somebody on eBay was selling 10 issues of Superman Family for $23 total.
And I don’t have any of them.
Well. I had to buy that!
#178, #179, #180, #181, #182, #183, #184, #185, #187, #209
It’s got the one where Superman has been turned into a hunchbacked dwarf and Lois is about to marry him!

Went to the Lehigh Valley Comic Con yesterday. Long trip for a one-day con, but Garcia-Lopez was one of the guests and two of my friends really wanted to see him. All-in-all a very good show. Good guests and a great dealer's room. Plenty of bargains, with digging boxes at $3, $2, 1$, 50 cents, and 25 cents/book. I could've burned a lot of cash. Some highlights: Three books from the Harvey 60s adventure series in nice shape at three bucks apiece. One guy said he bought "a pallet of graphic novels" that he was selling cheap. $7 total for these. A sampling of other $3 books, including a non-Joker Cesar Romero. A few undergrounds. I already had Shadowlands, but can't pass up Kim Deitch. Finally, I don't think I've bought a piece of comic art in 20 years or so, but a guy had a stack of the largely forgotten strip Mickey Finn. I didn't have a daily strip in my collection, and thought this was an excellent example, especially at $25.

I came back from my overnight adventure. There was a comic show in Long Island and I attended and stayed in a hotel until today.I also went to a local store called Grasshopper comics where I picked some books up. And finally, when I drove home this morning I stopped at a New Jersey show and bought still more books. I bought a boatload of comics , so I'm going to be spreading the haul over several posts. First off the show at Long island I spent 59 dollars and got 65 books. All dollar books but some extras were thrown in. The DC books:

Miscellaneous Independent books: I picked up a Crimebuster reprint book to see what all the fuss is about.

Next up I went to a local comic store called Grasshopper comics and picked up some curiosities. I spent 16 bucks in all. The Archies were 4 for 10 dollars. The rest were 2 bucks. This last Classic Comics Christmas had members making a fuss about the Beagle Boys, so I picked this up.
