Did you read The Thousand Deaths of Batman yet? That is literally the next one up! I'm going sequentially and it starts on page 101 in this edition. Actually, no time like the present, I'm diving back in now I got Detective 269 a few months ago and I love this story! I’m pretty sure it had never been reprinted before the Expanded Batman in the Fifties collection. You are so lucky!

Really great story, and wonderful example of the crazy ideas I love from this era so much. I really liked that first cut from the action to the "actors on stage". The Joker has so many media outlets in his stories - a movie company, a TV station, a newspaper - that when he’s not explicitly mentioned in an underworld media story, I assume that he’s behind it. For example, the underworld theater in this story. There’s also an underworld radio station in a 1950s Batman comic and I’m sure the Joker was behind that too.

Even though I have all the comics and others HCs which collect 1-13 or 1-7, there's something gorgeous about this 1000 pg Omnibus that collects Issues 1-39. Even dented copies sell for considerable cash...but swung a good deal on this.

I wanted to get this for Halloween (since it would have been fitting thematically) but was not able to purchase it until Christmas.
I have multiple copies of this comic series in singles form already, but I wanted to support this release. For me, the cover says it all: Hall, Shooter, Lapham, Englehart. All of them are some of my favorite comic creators, but Shadowman is mainly the Bob Hall show, and rightly so.
I hope they do a second omnibus to finish up the original run (since it is more Hall). But I don't know if Valiant ever has made a 2nd omnibus to their classic releases.

I'm playing the patient game with these $50 Archive books....got this one in NM for a far more reasonable $15
The cover features Death's Dark Angel, one of my favourite Vampirella stories of all time. I have to credit a mid 90s Harris comics reprint that introduced me to her world.

Ran into Yellow Springs this afternoon to stop by my LCS (Super Fly Comics and Games) and one of my favorite used book stores that also carries back issue comics (Dark Star Books). Ended up picking up a handful of back issues at each, as well as my new comics, some D&D stuff, comic supplies (they had Silver Age bags in stock, no boards yet, but both said January or mid Q1 2022) and a sword & sorcery anthology I wasn't aware of with a Steranko cover. At my lcs, I picked up a trio of war books... Capt. Savage #1 and a pair of issues of Our Fighting Forces... Over at Dark Star, I got the anthology (edited by L. Sprague de Camp) with the Steranko cover... Their December comic sale was 20% all regular price back issues, and they had a handful of issues of Usagi Yojimbo that I picked up... and in their dollar bins I found a bunch of Uncle Scrooge comics... Nothing major, but a handful of books from the stuff I am focused on currently. -M

Not a classic in that this edition was just released in the last year, but it is a new English edition of a classic book I have been seeking for a long time, and I wasn't aware it had a new edition released in 2021... Druillet's Elric. I've been looking for a copy of the English translation since I first learned about it circa 2014. I had zero luck finding one and most dealers and shop owners I asked about it had no clue it even existed. @supercat's new post about collecting status started me listing the handful of grails I had left, and when I did an image search for Druillet's Elric to include in the post, the image came up for the new edition released back in February as part of Titan's Elric Library. I haven't used a Previews catalog since 2019, so I had no idea it had been released (or even solicited). A couple of clicks, and this volume is now on its way to me. Thanks Titan and thanks supercat! -M

Wow. Marvel will put anything in an Epic Collection.
Good job on 1980s Batman and Detective. That’s from the best Batman run in my lifetime.
I haven’t read much of Cassandra Cain Batgirl but I do like the very few issues I have.
