If one wants, digital comics can be acquired on the cheap. Free, even.
And the quality has gotten a lot better the last few years.

Some Ebay odds & ends arrived today-- Another issue of National Comics-- mainly collecting these for the Granny Gumshoe stories-- 11 more to go... this one has a date stamp of Aug. 4, 1948. Also picked up PPSSM #1 in higher mid-grade condition-- I already have ASM #134, with first Tarantula appearance, this is a nice companion to that, as the color scheme and general cover layout is remarkably similar. And last, checking off one more issue of the original Deadman run-- now only 3 issues to go.

I just got back from Dragon*con, and (I'm guessing) because of Covid, and quantity restrictions placed by the con - not to mention travel restrictions that resulted in some vendors not being able to attend this year - there were WAY more comic book dealers this year than I've seen in probably the last 15 years at this con. my guess would be that they reached out to local stores and offered them spots (there were several local businesses - not just Comic Shops - that I noticed in the dealers' hall for the first time this year). Several of the new Comic sellers also were selling other stuff, but many of them also had boxes of hardcovers and trades at pretty steep discounts. Including one guy who along with board games, was selling boxes and boxes of hardcover trades (and a couple of boxes of softcover trades) for only $5 a pop. so. . . I ended up getting 12 trades (9 of them hardcover) for $50 - he threw in the two Outcast softcovers for free since I was buying a bunch. I really wish I had an empty suitcase tho, because Hardcovers are heavy, and I totally would have picked up the rest of the Sandman books in hardcover - he had them (!) but as it ended up, my suitcase came awful close to 50lb limit, and that was WITH me carrying a bunch of the trades in my carryon! So instead I regretfully left the rest of the Sandman hardcovers behind (I have some of them anyways in softcover), and picked up some new-to-me storylines. here's what I got for ~$50 Hardcovers: Sandman: the Dolls House Sandman: the Kindly Ones S.H.I.E.L.D. : Nick Fury vs S.H.I.E.L.D. Superman: Kyrptonite American Vampire Fantastic Four: the Resurrection of Galactus Astonishing X-Men: Monstrous Runaways: Dead End Kids Softcover: Strikeforce Morituri (issues 1-13) What If? Classic Outcast: A Vast and Undending Ruin (vol 2) Outcast: This Little Light (vol 3) so a nice haul for not a lot of $$. . especially when some of these hardcovers retailed for $35 when they first came out.

That's a nice haul, @bert. Can't beat $5 a pop. For that price, I would have grabbed all of the Sandmans the dealer had. Also, good choice on Strikeforce Morituri.

if I had a 2nd suitcase, no problem. . but couldn't carry all the weight.
so it became a choice of: get the Sandman hardcovers (many of the stories I had in softcover), or grab the two I KNEW I didn't have (and retailed for over $35), and pick up new reading.
so the 2nd option won.

Went to my lcs today to pick up my pulls, and rooted around the back issue bins for about an hour, and would up bringing home these... everything was $2-$4 except the issue of Star Spangled War Stories, which was $6 minus my discount. Not sure if any of those particular issues of Cartoons have Toth strips, but I am excited to check and see what else is in those. They all look to be from '79 to '80. -M

Visited two comic stores while I'm still on vacation. First stop was the Comic Crypt were they had the Image comics for 25 cents each/ 5 for 1 dollar. I tapped out the books that I wanted, This completes the first Shadow Hawk mini series. Some other books to round out the numbers

Next I stopped at the store that does my pull list. I picked up some dollar books. I need one more book to complete the Green arrow Longbow mini series. The New Warriors book puts me at just needing at 7 shy of completing that series.

This isn't a " classic " in our definition of things , but it's from our very own Crimebuster. Thanks for the signature, man.

Nice-- that's the same one I ordered. According to the tracking info, mine should be here tomorrow. Looking forward to this.
