Avengers 166 completed my all time favorite Avengers storyline. If I had to choose just three issues... probably too. Claremont/Byrne got much more exposure, but Shooter/Byrne could've rocked just as much. Couldn't agree more!!! And dont get me wrong xmen 108(think that was Claremont) to 143 was the best X-men run, IMHO, but it only took 164-166 to full invest in the title and collect them. Currently I have 96-300.

So Booksgiving, first up, the freebies... both horror books are by Steve Niles, whom I am familair with mostly form his work with Wrightson and I like what I have read, so give them a try since they were free. Then the $1 books, all EC reprints, all but the Frontline Combat were $1, it was $3, but it is the issue that has the Toth story F-86 Sabre Jet... Then I finished up a few series I only needed a couple of issues of... the last two issues of Sandman Mystery Theatre I needed to complete the series... I think I ended up paying almost as much for issues 61-70 as I did for 1-60 combined. 1-60 were all dollar or 50 cent bin pick ups, 61-70 averaged $3-$5 each with 67 running almost 7, but it was the last issue I needed, so I got it while it was on sale. The last 3 issues of Day Men, a horror series that featured Brian Stelfreeze art. I was picking it up as it came out, but I started a comic hiatus before it finished and never got the last 3 issues until now. A pair of Silver Age Hawkman appearances to close in on finishing that up... I now only need B& 34, and Hawkman 1, 2, 4 to omplete the Silver Age Hawlman solo material (there's a team up in Atom #7 I need as well). I doubt I will ever own B&B 34, or Hawkman 1 or 4, so I am 1 (2 if you count the team-up issue) issues away form completing what I will get for that run. a pair of Bronze Age Ghost Riders to chip away at that run, and the only Marvel Kull appearance I didn't have. and lastly... a pair of Evanier/Spiegle Blackhawks and a Kubert cover for SSWS. And that early X-Mas gift wasn't comics, but is comic adjacent, a trio of the Avenger pulp novels to fill in some holes in that series... and a trio of vintage Frazetta calendars (1977, 1979, and 1980) love me some Frazetta, and I've wanted those calendars since I saw them at my older cousin's when they were current. -M

Heap #1 from Skywald, this is the first Skywald comic I have ever encountered in the wild, so I picked it up. I had that and two or three of Skywald's Jungle Adventures. Great way to get to read the really old stuff (pre-internet). I had Mystery In Space #90 twice, one of the all-time great silver-age covers there (and now I have it in reprint in a '70s DC Super-Stars space issue) but I never had any of the other Hawkman Mystery in Space issues. I did have The Atom #7, and it was great; Gil Kane inked by Anderson throughout! Also had Brave & Bold #51 (Hawkman and Aquaman) but it was only okay.

I have B&B 51, and the 2nd Atom/Hawkman team up in Atom #31 (plus all the Atom & Hawkman issues). With Hawkman about done and me gunning for Atom #7 anyways, I'm shooting towards trying to fill in what I can of the Atom run as well, hence snagging those issues today. They were all $2-$4 each minus my subscriber discount. They had more SA Atom issues, but they were in the $7-$10 range and I passed on those for now. I did pick up a complete run of Power of the Atom and all the Specials for less than a buck an issue via ebay this weekend, but it hasn't arrived yet. I read the first handful of issues of that series at some point (I remember having a mail subscription for it and the first issue came signed by Roger Stern and the artists, but it was coming to me at campus while I was at school and I think I might have forgot to change my address when I left for the summer because I don't remember anything past issue 4 or 5 of that book. But Sword of the Atom is one of my favorite 80s DC minis and along with the Atom/Hawkman issues has made me a fan of the character. -M

You sir are 100% correct! 125-128 is actually my favorite Xmen storyline and probably right behind Avengers 164-166, in my top 3 favorite stories of all time. FF 242-244 is number 3. Yes I am definitely a bronze age Marvel and Byrne fan

Sword of the Atom is one of my favorite 80s DC minis. -M I had that mini-series though I never did get the follow-up specials for it, and I love all Gil Kane art, so I should add that to my list. I might even have a mini-promo poster for the mini-series in a drawer still (I found one for the Jack Of Hearts mini). A comic shop here used to give away the promo posters, sometimes after being on the wall or window and sometimes unused (there was only so much wall and window space). Like Doll Man a lot of the visual hook for The Atom was him being washed down a sink, put in a baddie's watch, or pinned into a butterfly collection at some point... riding a frog was a great visual! Top of and maybe only comic on my 'need' list is Spider-Girl #32 (2001) with the Steel Spider... I seem to be having a hard time finding one in Canada and don't want to pay $12 on up postage for the $2-3 copies ebay shows outside Canada. I wouldn't mind getting more of the Impact line The Comet series from #5-onward.

Yes I am definitely a bronze age Marvel and Byrne fan The battle with Terrax alone, could very well earn it a place as the best FF ever. The early Byrne issues (232-235) have better art, and I liked the story better for issues 258-260, but the ones you mention have a better blend.
There's also the Millar/Hitch run to look at, when it comes to the FF.

Damn, getting Queen-Size Millie in high grade is HARD so for once I put my anal high-grade demands aside and settled for a copy that still presents itself nicely. It's major flaw is a bit of colour flaking at the top right. I don't care about arrival dates that are penned on the cover, that was normal back then. Still a nice FINE perhaps? It's almost 50 years old so I don't care.

Today I bought this: Which, when it arrives, is going to get its covers ripped off and glued into a copy of this: Which landed on my doorstep from Germany missing an issue apart from the covers. The seller refunded me and told me to keep the book which I thought generous of them. Buying the single issue cost slightly more than the bound volume but there we go. Gluing the centre pages into the book will be simple enough. Trimming them to the same size as the other pages will be a bit more of a challenge.
Another way of keeping your comics together is to punch holes in them and stick them in a ring binder - which is what someone did with these early (1974) Pilote Mensuel - which is why they were cheap. Which is why I could afford to buy them. So I did.
Just look at the talent on display there - no, not the tits! - Bilal, Forest, Druillet, Gotlib, Tabary, Pratt.... I am so looking forward to this lot

Sometimes it costs more than the comic! I had bought a bunch of Power of Atom's in a dollar bin a few years ago. Not the whole run, but a pretty decent amount. I need to re-read them.
