Starfire was never right for him. It was all physical; they had nothing in common. I agree, but that makes it more believable for me! Love is really blind. I remember Dick being all worried about some stuff and snapping at a cheerful Kory by saying "don't you ever enjoy a bad time?" That wasn't my idea of a romantic moment, but the two of them felt like a real couple! Him being the grumpy dude and she the eternal optimist, both being attracted to each other like a moth to a flame. I'm sure that given time, she would have caused him to mellow and stop trying to be the Batman, too. True. Plus, it's hard to get back from so deep into the friendzone. It's like dating your sister. See above. Oy! Your scholarship leaves me in the dust, as I have no idea who that is! Some kind of two-faced girlfriend? Anyway... I think that as an individual, Dick had a great chance for growth with Kory. I just don't see how she would fit in the bat-universe, though.

Dick had a great chance for growth with Kory. I just don't see how she would fit in the bat-universe, though. That was one of her strengths--she was not a part of the Bat-universe, which opened the door to Dick Grayson the person (not superhero) being more than someone forever tied (psychologically) to the world which mentored him--a world that was not his by choice. With Kory, he established his own feelings and motives, knowing she was not Batman, Batgirl, or anyone tied to his earlier years.

I don’t blame you. I saw this last night and thought “No, it’s too late at night. Duela is exhausting at any time of day.” Duela Dent appeared in the 1970s. She was Two-Face’s daughter but she popped up as the Joker’s Daughter and pestered Robin in Batman Family. Then she was Penguin’s Daughter. Then she was ... I’m going to “long story short” this for sanity. It came out that she was really Harvey Dent’s daughter, and she was ... uh ... I’m having a little trouble remembering her motives. She moved over to Teen Titans and became the Harlequin ... because reasons. And she was a good guy. I’m trying to remember if she joined the Titans or if she was hanging around with them. This is worse than explaining Mon-El to non-comics fans. shaxper critiques Duela Dent at length in one of his Batman threads. I’ll see if I can find it.

It’s easy to make fun of Duela. The whole situation was badly handled by the writing staff so that it was just ridiculous.
But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t harbor quite a bit of nostalgic affection for the character. The whole thing was so damn nutty! I loved it when I was 11.

This is worse than explaining Mon-El to non-comics fans. shaxper critiques Duela Dent at length in one of his Batman threads. I’ll see if I can find it. It turned out that Duela's entire motive for appearing as The Joker's Daughter (and later as the Riddler, Penguin, and Scarecrow's daughter) was to somehow convince Robin to let her be a Titan. Of course, she was first introduced before the Teen Titans had even reassembled, so that explanation didn't make much sense. But she did repeatedly one-up Dick and was always a step ahead of him.

...and at Donna Troy's wedding, Duela confessed to Dick that she'd been lying about being Two-Face's daughter all along. Why? She didn't say.
Cei-U! I summon the elusive enigma!

When I first read/discovered Dick Grayson, Kory was his love interest at the time and I just accepted them like I did every other comic book relationship. However Wolfman made sure to scorch the earth and salt it behind him to the point that they're now just a toxic memory. Babs ftw!

During the prime years of my comics reading, Chuck Dixon was really pushing Dick and Babs, and like any soap opera junkie, I ate it up.
Still riding that train some 20 years later.

Betty Kane for me, so I voted "Someone Else". BUT...I honestly think Kory was by far the most mature and well done, it felt like a real relationship. I just like the older era better, hence my vote.

Years ago I would have voted for Kori … their relationship seemed more organic and Barbara was far to old for him … however I concede that given the state of current continuity and the fact that Dick has 'caught up' with Barbara agewise, that probably makes more sense.
Donna is definitely too much of a sister.
Betty might have been fine when they were kids, but post-Crisis she became first this weird stalker of Nightwing's, and now … it might be workable but they don't seem to have any connection at all and it's hard to see it happening. Not that I wouldn't welcome a Nightwing & Flamebird comic!
I voted for Bruce just cuz.
