What comics series can you point me to which are based on nomadic cultures, or maybe just long-term day-to-day wilderness survival? Anything from cavemen to native Americans to nomads who co-existed with neighboring civilizations. I'm asking because I want to see what kinds of stories best fit with the nomadic or hunter-gatherer lifestyle, for a world-building project, and I'd like to see the visual interpretations as well, to make up for my limited imagination. My comics collecting has been almost straight super-heroes, so I'm not even sure if something like Ka-Zar fits the bill (sounds like it would).

There was also Tragg and the Sky Gods, which was an oddball sci-fi book involving cavemen versus aliens. Writer Don Glut never forgot that his protagonists Tragg and Lorn were cave people--albeit exceptional ones due to genetic tampering--and there was quite a lot about the challenges of surviving in a paleolithic environment even when you're not battling alien invaders.

Arak Son of Thunder was about a Native American but also included a lot of magic, vikings, pirates, etc. Pretty much the full gambit. But at it's core, it revolved around a Native American and his travels.

Northlanders is great. Historically mostly-accurate Viking story.

Well, I'm not entirely kidding; Ray Dirgo did a pretty good job on the Flintstones characters, for Charlton. I wouldn't want a steady diet of it; but, an average issue was a pretty good read.

It just occurred to me that X-O Manowar (both versions) is about a Visigoth who becomes paired with the "living armor" suit. They do a good job of looking at some pretty far out stuff, from the viewpoint of someone "primitive" from the 5th century.
