Given the longevity of comic book series, some writers choose to change the appearance of characters to create excitement. And sometimes itself exciting, it's goofy or silly. Which transformations work and which ones were dumb? Capwolf Frog Thor Angel Punisher Spikey Thing Six arm Spider-man Insect Wasp Archangel

I quite liked the Thing’s rocky new look.
I voted for Thor’s frog tenure.

Frog Thor rules, as does the mighty Throg!

Cap-wolf was just plain dumb.

Cap-wolf was just plain dumb. Visually, I thought it looked good, but Cap probably doesn’t lend himself to werewolf-related shenanigans.

I think you need to split them up in one-off changes (Frog Thor, Six-arm Spider-Man) and changes that were intended to be permanent (or at least long-term) like Spikey Thing and Archangel.
For a single story you can do just about anything and it'd be fine with me.
Longer term: I didn't mind Spikey Thing (for me it was a minor change in appearance), but I was never an avid FF reader. Archangel: I didn't care for. There were some good stories with his new appearance, but I'm more interested in the feather-winged Angel.

I've never read (nor do I want to) the Capwolf, Angel Punisher, or insectoid Wasp stories. Of the others presented, I *loved* Thor-as-frog (possibly my favorite Simonson-era storyline), was amused by six-armed Spidey (my childhood creation Superspider, later Starspider, started out with six arms before I realized what a pain in the ass he was to draw), and completely indifferent to Archangel (new look or not, he was and is still yawn-inducing).
Cei-U! My favorite transformation is my own 100-pound weight loss!

I guess I'm not sure what the poll is asking. Are we voting for ones we like or the worst one?
Thor/frog is great. Just weird fun. The only other one I know anything about it six-armed Peter and that was perfectly fine for a one-off storyline.

I generally enjoy transformations when they are done in good fun for an entertaining story. Cap Wolf for example was always intended as a finite thing, there was no doubt he would revert back to regular Cap at the end of the multi-issue tale. But one transformation that depressed me as a kid was Killer Moth to Charaxes during the Underworld Unleashed event, because it was intended as a permanent change (and lasted years). Overall I liked the '90s Robin series, especially early on, but this was always a misstep to me. I don't mean to say a "joke villain" should never become a serious threat, that is a fine story idea. But if that character does undergo such a transformation, their final form needs to be just as if not more interesting as their previous form. In this case, the concept of the "looked down upon" Killer Moth is more interesting to me than Charaxes.

Frog Thor is gold, as is the entire rest of that run.
I hated what they did to Angel.
Disliked the continual mutation of the Thing, and also Miss Thang or whatever she was. Blech.
Don't know anything about Captain Wolfmerica. Was that really a continual thing?
Wasp, eh, everything from that period, yuck.
The only angelic Punisher I read was the Wolverine/Punisher miniseries. I don't remember anything about it but I don't think I minded that. I think it could have been done well, but I don't know if it was.
Spidery Spidey was goofy but... it was another time, as they say.

I actually just looked up "charaxes" for the first time... never understood where the name came from but I see it is related to moths and butterflies.

I think Aaron Lopresti drew it, but it does kind of look like Willingham.
