How 'bout this one that came with a set of colorforms-like figures so you could make your own cover scenes? The Superman: Man of Steel one was cool too ! loved the colorforms the most of all the gimmick covers.

In its death throes, Continuity tried some really odd gimmick covers, such as this one, featuring an autostereogram (a.k.a. a 'magic eye' image). Unfortunately, this particular gimmick was entirely wasted on me as my astigmatism means I can't see the images hidden in autostereograms. "It's a sailboat."

My eyes are good or at least they were at the time those things were popular and I could never see anything.

This is the first one I recall owning: For better or for worse, it was also my first Green Lantern comic.

How 'bout this one that came with a set of colorforms-like figures so you could make your own cover scenes? I still have that issue and I haven't opened it to this day. I thought that was one of the best gimmicks.

Not a gimmick cover, but I did like the extras which came with the first issue of Batman: Shadow of the Bat. Blueprints of Arkham, a couple of posters, and this cool Arkham Asylum pop-up thing: Oh, and it came with a comic too. A lot better than releasing Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #1 with those bland pink, yellow, green, and whatever else covers a couple of years prior. Here's one I've only heard about: I don't know if it was something you had to buy separately or if it was tossed in free with something else, but I remember hearing that people weren't happy to buy this 64 page comic only to find that they had been scammed into purchasing 64 blank pages (Lobo doesn't have any wisdom, get it?)

There's this FF with a die-cut cover that I got as a giveaway at three or four different shows. Opened it to find that Alicia dumped Ben for Johnny and then that Alicia was a Skrull. Yeeesh!

The Forceworks #1 pop up cover I don't remember that at all! I wonder if I have it?

As reviled as the early Image people were, they didn't really use gimmick covers as much as the big 2 did. Marvel and Dc used them often. This Silver Surfer # 50 embossed cover was something I picked up at a show that had Starlin. They continued to have special covers for # 75 and #100. I got this signed by Starlin at a show.

This was a unique gimmick. They published Team Titans #1 that had a story but with different back up story featuring origin stories for every member for different issues. They tried to get the collector to buy all the issues.
