Bill Sienkiewicz made my Top 10.. Wrightson and Wood didn't, though I was exposed to very little of Wally Wood's work.
My Top 10 so far: Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore, Jean Giraud and Bill Sienkiewicz.
I would be very surprised if 2 of my Top 10 would be mentioned, their work not being known in the US much or at all.
Another one is a long shot, but not unknown in the U.S.
Two others have a fair chance of showing up (one far more than the other though), being U.S. based both. Final spot is undetermined.

Wood, Wrightson, and Sienkewicz are all top tier but not quite top 10 with me. Wood and Wrightson float around in that zone that would make up the top 15 or 20, but not quite crack the top 10. Sienkewicz would probably crack the top 25, especially if I had recently reread his Moby Dick adaptation.
So my top 10 is now: Moebius, Joe Kubert, Darwyn Cooke, Canniff, Frazetta, (with Lemire and Brubaker with probationary status)

Ok, the twist is that once people hit 9 people on their list, they can be ‘knocked out’ by someone guessing who their 10th is.
Three people could guess, based on what they know of the poster, and if one of them guessed correctly, that 10th creator would enter the contest as a choice.
This of course doesn’t work well if people maintain two lists, or mention their choices ahead of time.

Bill Sienkiewicz' New Mutants run was the first comic I got into as a kid that had "weird art." I still think the Demon Bear storyline holds up, and have vivid memories of the arc where they travel inside Legion's mind. Later on, I got into Elektra: Assassin and his other work, including Big Numbers, which he never finished. My understanding these days is that he's more of an inker and a cover artist, so he's unlikely to make my list on that basis.
I've dabbled in some Wally Wood, and I've read Wrightson's Swamp Thing, but I'm not familiar enough with either guy to rank them.

Day Sixteen ChoicesToday I want to keep it simple. A bit of old and new. Or rather old and less old. You know how we do in comics here lol. Today I have some master illustrators and some guys you say write good. Today I ask you if Jack Davis, Garth Ennis, Frank Frazetta or Ed Brubaker are in your top 10. Frazetta is a great artist, but I consider him more for his single pieces and covers, not really comics. Garth Ennis and Ed Brubaker are both good, but neither would be in my top 10 I'm not much of a MAD guy (I read it now and then, but never alot), so no on Davis.. not exactly sure which bits he's responsible for.

Day Seventeen ChoicesOkay today is cleanup day. Some people been sloppy and been mentioning people who’d make their list. I have considered walking up to all of you and giving you a slap and screaming keep Dave Steven’s name out your mouth but instead I have forgiven you and I’m gonna clean this up now to restore the faith in this institution. Today I want to know if you have a spot for Richard Corben, Chris Claremont, Geoff Johns, Al Williamson, Dave Stevens, Dave McKean, Keith Giffen, or Brandon Graham. None of the above here for me. I appreciate Claremont's impact on the industry and his X-Men are great, but that's all he had... other stuff he's tried is just meh. Geoff Johns I actively dislike... alot. Almost as much as Morrison. Dave Stevens and Dave McKean I like what I've seen, but neither has much of a body of work to call them top 10. Giffen has his moments, but no. Richard Corben... not my style. Al Williamson.. I like his Star Wars comic strip inks.. not sure what else he's done. No idea who Brandon Graham is. Wally Wood is definitely close... I could be convinced. Wrightson is good at comics I don't like, so no. Sienkiewicz's still is very unique and works great sometimes, but not top 10

Day Eighteen Response and Wrap—Up
I love Wally but discovered him late and only partially so far, so can't put him in my top 10.
Sienkiewicz comes really close. His work was where I first really discovered that art can be unique and that I didn't have to be content with a mainstream house style. Elektra: Assassin is a top ten book for me.
Bernie Wrightson is not only an easy addition to my top ten, but he might be the only ‘just artist’ in my list. His work on Swamp Thing was an early cementer into getting me to truly love comics, and everything he ever drew is beautiful. There are a lot of creators I've never met, most of them, but never meeting him will be the only one that makes me truly sad.
My list so far: Frank Miller Jack Kirby Carl Barks Alan Moore Mike Mignola Jeff Lemire Bernie Wrightson

Day Nineteen Choices
I do think in like hardcore cartoonist circles these guys are considered at the very top of the game and are certainly respected by other comic creators and highly influential.
I’m speaking of the Midwest boys Clowes and Ware.
But we also need some flavor. Can’t let the flyover boys have a day to themselves
The third is about as far from that as you can get in Katsuhiro Otomo. Otomo’s direct influence across mediums is pretty incredible.
And how about an Emmy winner for your consideration? Set designer for Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, underground hero Gary Panter.
I think the theme maybe that these are viewed as auteurs.
So today I’m wondering and asking if Daniel Clowes, Gary Panter, Katsuhiro Otomo, or Chris Ware are in your Top 10?

Clowes is definitely on my list. I found him mid-Eightball, and his work is engaging, though often disturbing. (Didn't care for Wilson, though.)
Gary Panter I don't get. Saw him in Raw, bought all three(?) of the Bongo Jimbo issues, but it leaves me cold.
Otomo: Akira's been on my list 40 years, but I still haven't read it.
Ware: Too one-note and un-engaging for me. All form and no heart.

I think I'll go ahead and say yes for Clowes. I'm also leaning towards yes for Otomo. I personally rate Kentaro Miura and Takehiro Inoue above him, but Otomo is a phenomenal artist and illustrator. I haven't started reading Ware yet, and Panter isn't on my radar.

None of them are on mine.
Otomo: Saw quite a bit of his anime, but only read a bit of Akira and none of his other manga. Not enough to make my list.
Clowes and Ware: Not quite the things I'm interested in.
Panter: Had to look him up, don't think I've read anything by him.

Day Nineteen ChoicesSo today I’m wondering and asking if Daniel Clowes, Gary Panter, Katsuhiro Otomo, or Chris Ware are in your Top 10? None of the above, though I enjoy Clowes and admire Ware. I know jack about manga, so no manga creator is going to make my list.
Cei-U! I summon another day of "Nope!"

Clowes, Ware and Panter - no, no and no. Otomo - also no, but I really have every intention of reading Akira somehow, some way. I've only just started reading some manga in the past few months, as reflected in my recent posts in the manga thread (and cross-posted in the 'What classic comics have you read lately' thread) and so far I've been very impressed with what I've seen. It's not outside of the realm of possibility that a few manga creators will eventually assume high rankings among my personal favorites.
