Beat me to the punch! I just read this on screenrant and it blew me away as I hadn't seen many updates from Stan on this project. I know how shaxper is spending his April vacation!

My big fear about this series is not that it will do poorly. I think it will be outstanding. Instead, I'm worried that it will do too well and that we'll end up with a larger fanbase for Yuichi than for Usagi. I love that Stan chose to make the series about a descendent (presumably) so that the animated adventures can exist within the same continuity/universe without contradicting anything in the comics, but there is definitely a risk that goes along with it.

It could happen, but I'd be okay with that honestly. It's like the Ninja Turtles, there are fans of the original comics, fans of the original live action films, fans of the original cartoon, fans of the 2000's reboot cartoon and fans of the Nickelodeon series (and somewhere out there I'm sure there are even people who enjoy the Michael Bay films and the Image comics..maybe) but none of that effects how I enjoy the series and if it gets more people enjoying it then its a net positive in my book.

You're not wrong at all. Heck, we may even end up loving the new guy more. It would just be a big shift, one that moves the focus of communities like this one away from the very character its named for.
