With a month left in the year, here's where I'm at: Buying Goals - I have such a backlog of unread comics and trades that I probably shouldn't making specific buying goals. So my one goals is to buy fewer stories/issues than I read this year. Probably going in the wrong direction. Bought probably a dozen TPBs (mostly Epic Collections), plus an Omnibus. I think I made two orders from Lone Star this year. That's a lot of pages, so there's good chance that my purchases have exceeded my reading. Although I did do a solid bit of reading in titles other than my reading goals below, mostly notably reading Power Man & Iron Fist #50-125.Reading Goals - Re-read (or read) some stuff from each of the four main classic X-Men comics: Uncanny X-Men, X-Factor, New Mutants, and Excalibur. For most of those it'll be re-reading, but I haven't read that much Excalibur before and have never read some of the later issues of New Mutants. I've read Excalibur #1-34, The Sword is Drawn, Weird War III, and the Excalibur serial from Marvel Comics Presents #31-38. Re-read Uncanny X-Men #210-219, New Mutants #46, and X-Men Annual #4.- Binge all or part of Captain America #258-285 Read #258-268 (plus the crossover in Defenders). Might keep going to finish this in December.- Read one or more of the TPBs & comics I have of late 1980s Spider-Man I read Amazing Spider-Man #259-310 & Annuals #18-19, 22; the Spider-Man vs. Wolverine one-shot; Spectacular Spider-Man #130-133, 137-150; Web of Spider-Man #1, 6, 29-33, 36; and possibly a spare issue or two I forgot.- Read some or all of Avengers #278-300 Read it all.- Pick a couple of periods from Legion of Super-Heroes that I haven't read that much of to binge: maybe the beginning of 5YL or Earthwar Read Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes #239-240 (from just before Earthwar) and Legion of Super-Heroes #1-14 from the 5 Years Later era.- Make a dent in the Batman Archives/Omnibi I have Read the Dark Knight Archives vol. 3.- Read more stuff that's non-Big Two and/or non-super hero. Not gonna lock myself into specific titles, so I have maximum wiggle room. Read Persepolis. Also read Nexus (miniseries) #1-3 and Nexus (ongoing) #1-3, 19-25.- Maybe some Byrne Fantastic Four Probably won't do this before the end of the year.- Read whatever Marvel Comics Presents and/or Action Comics Weekly that I'm in the mood for In two birds with one stone mode, of course I read the Excalibur serial from MCP #31-38.A few updates from the last month of the year: 1) For the X-titles, I read the New Mutants Graphic Novel, New Mutants #1-3, and Uncanny X-Men #167. It's possible I might squeeze in a couple more issues of New Mutants today. 2) For Captain America, I read #269-285, completing my goal to read all of #258-285. 3) For Legion of Super-Heroes, I read Legionnaires 3 #1-4.

Okay, let's do this! Buying Goals- Assuming things with Covid aren't going to get much better in the next twelve months, my enthusiasm for acquiring is pretty much non-existent. The thrill of the hunt just isn't the same online. So I make no buying goals for 2022 (which is not to say that I won't decide I absolutely need a key issue or run a week from now because, let's be honest, I will). Met!: Oh, I bought! I assembled and read Incredible Hulk #314-400, obtained a giant stack of British Disney comic magazines that have been an utter delight, and also began collecting appearances of Herbie Popnecker, as well as picked up scattered other books of interest here and there. More importantly, I definitely read more than I bought this year. Met!: Sold my Strange Tales #110 right before Multiverse of Madness came out and met this goal nicely. It's been sad not having anything all that hot left to sell while, at the same time, the market was cooling, but I made my money and then some. I may still be seriously in the red financially, but I can't complain. Comics helped a lot! Partially met: A valiant goal that I never quite managed to make happen. I'm still working on reserving regular time for reading in my busy life with my busy family always having something going on. I did succeed in finishing David Copperfield (which I'd been reading for five or six years by this point) so I call that a victory, at least! Met!: I'm not sure that we made it happen every week, but we certainly averaged out a lot more than that. We read 115 books together this year, which is definitely our personal best, and (most importantly) we really enjoyed all of it! Partially met: I cut this one too close and first started reading it (with Amber) today. We got through the first two issues and are hooked, but we won't have time to finish it until after New Year's Eve. Met!: I really didn't expect to finish the run this year (or possibly ever) but, after a handful of issues, it got good again and I ended up really enjoying myself. Still not really an Avengers fan, per se, but I had a good time and will likely revisit the run at some point. Too bad those last few Inferno tie-in issues were terrible. I mostly skimmed #300. Met!: I've really enjoyed re-experiencing so many of my favorite runs through Amber: Conway and Moench's run on Batman, Thomas and Russell's Elric of Melnibone, a few Claremont and Byrne X-Men issues, and Batman: A Death in the Family. Partially met: I read something like 25 issues of Excalibur and decided I didn't need to read the rest. That's one run off the list! Met!: Well I didn't always get in 5 per month, but I certainly blew the stretch goal of sixty total reviews out of the water! Met!: I certainly didn't meet all of these goals, but I only intended to meet at least one. While I've allowed four review threads to continue to languish for yet another year, I've put a ton of work into three others, one of which will probably be completed in 2023. This is the most successful I've ever been at reaching my yearly goals. Can't wait to make my goals for next year. Happy New Year, everyone!

I'll probably read some funnybooks. I may review some. I succeeded.
