Seems pretty clear to me that Super7 is moving towards a line of enormous vinyl figures, inspired by the classic DX Shogun Warriors. In fact, I suspect it was originally intended to center around the Shogun Warriors line until they lost that license. Consider the following evidence:
1) They just released a 3.75" Godzilla in the style of the old 19" one, and Super7 is very fond of releasing their licensed properties in multiple size scales. I suspect this was a test to gauge consumer interest, and it was their first SDCC exclusive to sell out online.
2) Super7 has a 24" Optimus Prime on the way, and were clearly inspired by Shogun Warriors (as can be seen in the picture):
but, when you consider the Godzilla SDCC exclusive, I don't think this was intended to be a done-in-one.
So it seems like they are considering an entire Super Shogun size scale for their licensed properties. I sure hope they can get those Shogun Warrior licenses back...
