Gene Day man, that guy would have been the new Steranko. By the time of his passing Gene Day already had more comic work created and IMO was already surpassing and evolving what Steranko had done earlier.

I think Steranko was over rated.

Sure he had more output, albeit a lot of inking jobs, but I think Steranko was a huge influence on his style (probably on that of Gulacy as well). Like Steranko I think he would have been a huge influence on others too. Then theres the What If? of him being a modern day artist. How much influence could his cinematic style have been on things like the MCU? Or what if those Image creators had been stylistically inspired by him? The 90's would have been a lot prettier.

An artist I remember who died unexpectedly at a young age was Will Jungkuntz. He had an ongoing strip in Marvel's Savage Tales in the 80's. I seem to remember him being a protégé of Frank Miller. Miller dedicated the first volume of The Dark Knight Returns to him. He died at 30.

It broke my heart when Steve Dillon died. One of my all-time favorites. Steve Lightle and Paul Ryan were both in their 60s but I thought still had good work ahead of them. John Paul Leon was WAY too young. Robson Rocha, only 41.
