Scarlet Witch being colored green on the cover of her first two appearances (while red on the interiors). Re: those X-Men covers. Quicksilver is also wearing a blue outfit when in the interior he wears green. Way back in X-Men #7's letter col a reader asked that same million dollar question :"By the way, if the Scarlet Witch is scarlet, how come she's always green on the cover?" The response from Stan/Marvel editorial: "Sometimes we change a costume's color on the cover to balance the design a bit." I've since read here and there that it had to do with the color technology and/or the way certain colors appeared on/interacted with the type of paper Marvel used back then for covers--they were too dark or bled through, the correct color CMYK mix wasn't doable for the cover, things like that--so color substitutions were used at times.

I'm surprised some ascended fanboy hasn't yet created Earth-83464677 for the Chartreuse Witch.

I'm surprised some ascended fanboy hasn't yet created Earth-83464677 for the Chartreuse Witch. LOL, well until that comes along we'll have to content ourselves with alternate timeline/Earth 23378 Lorna Dane/Polaris. who popped up in Uncanny X-Men #378 decked out in Wanda's "two-piece bathing suit" costume, lampshade headdress, opera gloves and copious curly hair. Creative team: Alan Davis, Adam Kubert, Graham Nolan and others.

Botching the colour of GL's gloves in GL\GA #76 stands out as an unfortunate distraction considering the power of the moment being depicted

So here's a weird coloring one. For whatever reason, Batman's gauntlets were white for the whole of Detective Comics 38 (1st Robin) while his utility belt was part blue/part white. No idea why.

If I were to hazard a guess, I would say either an error on the color guide or the printing plates. I wonder if the colorist didn't have the guide completed or made a mistake and used opaquing fluid (like white out, but and older liquid) to make a correction, leading to the white portion of the gloves.

From Simpsons Comics #43: It's been a while since I read that story, but I seem to remember there was a reason Bart was red.
