On my radar as I have 1-2 issues and want to complete when cash is more readily available: It's Science with Dr. Radium, Miracle Squad, Nth Man, US 1 (yes, I want to finish it off, have over half the series bought new at the time) and pondering over a few others.
Nearly completed runs: Mighty Marvel Western (nerd 4), Western Gunfighters (need 3), Ringo Kid (need 2) and the 80's Jughead (need 10).

s. Nearly completed runs: Mighty Marvel Western (nerd 4) so how does one rate books on the nerd scale? Does it run from 1-5, 1-10 or something else? Is higher or lower good? What makes Mighty Marvel Western a 4 on the scale? -M

What makes Mighty Marvel Western a 4 on the scale? 1 though 5, and lower is better, or nerdier, however you want to see it. People often do get them confused, though - kind of the same way people think Defcon 5 is the biggest threat when it's just the opposite. So Westerns share the 4 slot with Crime, because they're rather mainstream genres. Romance is 5. Horror is 3, Funny Animal is 2, and Superhero is obviously 1.

So where do war comics, teen humor comics, autobiographical comics, wrestling comics, and such fall on the scale? I think all ebay listings should include the nerd scale rating as well. Much more informative than a lot of the BS in the listings. -M

Rating is like grading, completely subjective. So all those teen-humour books will forever rate highly on my inner-teen scale

I spent the last 5 years acquiring the comics and am thinking to read one a day from Monday to Friday until I am done. Hmm. I couldn't do that!
When I buy back-issues, I READ them as I buy them. Then, later, I'll RE-READ them in order once I have them all.
I did this with the early issues of CAPTAIN MAR-VELL when I got them (from ahbout 4 different sources) a little over 20 years ago.
I also did this with John Blackburn's COLEY comics, since I didn't start at the beginning, accidentally skipped the 2nd Eros mini, and at some point got the 3 rare earlier after-the-fact, right from the artist. That's why I wound up reading the entire series at least 5 times (so far).
On the other hand, when I started buying Paige Braddock's JANE'S WORLD, I started with the 1st collection. I then got the 2nd & 3rd book, and after reading those, wound up re-reading all 3 again, before buying the 4th & 5th books... Once I'd read the entire series about 6 times, I deliberately took a break, just so I could read something else (I know, crazy, but that's what happened... heh).

I'm afraid I border on being a hoarder when it comes to comics. When I go to shows, I Come back with 30 or more comics and I'm not going to read those comics right away. I guess this is why I have to make a schedule for reading.

Reading, I just started Conan the Barbarian from #1 and will read straight through to #115, which is where the main part of my run ends (I have a handful of issues higher than #200 that I will eventually read).
Collecting, I'm committed to buying one Sandman TPB per month this year starting with March. I've read it previously from borrowed editions from my local library, but I wanted to own my own copies of the series so I can go through it at my leisure.

Reading wise, I am a bit committed with my Scarlet Witch read through, so not going to add much more to my plate except what I am in the mood to read. I am also reading through the JSA series via trades and am 7 of 12 volumes into it. I also need to get back to my Conan the Barbarian read through, I paused at #125 to dive in to some other things.
When I do add something to my plate, there are a couple of possibilities:
-Marvel's Ka-Zar: I have the full runs of his series in Astonishing Tales, the 70s solo series, and Ka-Zar the Savage to get through.
-Marvel's Rom, the Space Knight: I completed the series a year or so back but haven't had a chance to dive in
-Marvel's Shogun Warriors
-DC's Arion, Lord of Atlantis
-Grim Jack
-DNAgents Vol. 2
-DC's Son of Tomahawk
as well as various trades, and series I'd like to revisit, but those aren't "from scratch" so to speak.

I too am going through Lee-Kirby Thor, not from scratch because I read JIM 83-110 many years ago, but from 111 on. Breezed through the first ten issues. Great stuff. This is basically where the series really takes off after a rough start (up to 100) and New York-centered tales (101-113, which I love for all the classic villains, even if they are a bit corny, like Cobra and Grey Gargoyle). Things pick up with the Absorbing Man two parter, then explode with the Trial of the Gods in 116. Even a throwback to "dirty commies" with 117 doesn't sidetrack things.
Also doing a classic Hulk journey. Started with 102. 60s DD and FF from 103 on coming up soonish

Once I'm finished the Lee-Kirby run on FF, I plan on reading the "Tales from Asgard" stories. Not the entire Lee-Kirby Thor run, just those stories. Then I plan on jumping into Kirby's "Fourth World" titles.

With a bit of luck I'll have half of the series (ie 18 issues) on the way by this evening

Another one I should be starting soon is Constantine or Hellblazer, but I decided to re-read Moore's Swamp Thing run first as I haven't read that all the way through since it first came out.

I started both X-Men and Star Wars from scratch with the epics.. I'll probably get the next x-men on (which goes through Dark PHoenix I think) when the next Star Wars one comes out.
