From DC’s Band-Aid Event? It’s Not Blood Moon. It’s Called Convergence Posted on October 28, 2014 by Rich Johnston Share on Tumblr Comments Image-32 We’ve been talking about DC Comics upcoming slate of comics designed to help the move between New York and Burbank go as smoothly as possible, as most editors leave the publisher, some move, and a whole bunch of new editors are trained up. Which is why forty-eight comics over two months will be prepared in advance to cover the gap. Which is why we nick-named it The Band-Aid. Which even made its way into official memos. Some people say it’s officially called The Blood Moon. But it’s not. It’s called Convergence and here is everything we’ve been able to work out so far. In April/May we will get Twenty two-shot comics, issues 1 and 2, with a weekly comic running through its spine, totalling around fifty comic books over to months. The comics are edited by Dan DiDio and ex-Marvel editor Marie Javins. The comics will see combat between multidimensional alternate characters, including those from the pre-52, but none from the New 52. Creators rumoured to be working on books include Tim Truman, Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Grey, Scott Lobdell, Fabian Nicieza, David Gallaher, Adam Beechen, Larry Hama, Marv Wolfman, Dan Abnett, Len Wein and Jeff Parker. It will come as a result of the Brainiac gathering “Bottle Earths” on a world, each containing a city from a different multiversal Earth, as seen on the Multiversity Map. And it’s called Convergence. We hear it in the same way Peter Griffin says “Roadhouse”. “Convergence.”

I'd be more excited if the event was called "Roadhouse."
Since it's about fighting, is Eric Roberts available for DC Comics: Best of the Best?

Eh, I can't say I'm that excited for this. I'd be more excited if it was done in claymation with MTV's Celebrity Death MAtch commentators doing a Waldorf & Astoria routine throughout it. -M

That would make it amusing for 5 minutes longer than it will be. Unless Truman does the Hawks again...then there might be one thing in it I am interested in. -M

So, if it doesn't involve new 52 characters, does that mean the outcome is that the winners of these battles will be getting added to the current roster of characters? Are the Earth-2 characters considered part of new 52 for the purposes of this thing? I hope we end up with 20 new versions of Batman.
Ugh.

"Bah Gawd! That's Ambush Bug's Music! What the Hell is he doing here!?!?!"

I am very excited for this event. I am hoping to see some of my old favorites from the pre-Crisis universe. I am getting the impression that this two month event will have absolutely no effect at all on the New 52 universe. However, I have been known to be wrong countless times in the past.
If any of the titles do particularly well, maybe we will see DC somehow add those characters into the New 52. I particularly miss the '70s JSA, New Teen Titans, and Green Lantern/Green Arrow/Black Canary team.

I am getting Multiversity fatigue. Since this will potentially have no effect on the New 52, it seems like just filler for treading waters sake. I see some potentially interesting stories that could be told, but really, in two months, just seems like it might be a rushed deal, but that mihgt be an answer to our prayers, once this all starts.

My guess is that this is just the tip of the iceberg with another longer event immediately following it up that will serve as a basis for books from various continuities to debut for the long-term.

I have been reading in the internet, talking to friends, and I agree with Strykerx2k that this two month thing is a rushed deal and having said that; I've mixed feeling about the whole Multiversity/Convergence thing in general and more I read about through Bleeding Cool, Newsarama, Comic Book Resources, and other Comic Book Related Web-Sites - that this DC COMICS blockbuster event isn't all that cracked up to be.
I've may sound negative to you - but I've have serious doubts about this and I'm very cautious about this whole thing in general.
Right now, I'm not that excited about it either ... Sorry Everyone!
I think it's being hyped too much over at DC Comics.

I think it's being hyped too much over at DC Comics. I felt the same way about Flashpoint, the whole idea didn't appeal to me at all but the Batman and Superman stories were decent Elseworld stories so I picked those up. I'll probably do the same here as there's bound to be at least one title that's decent.

This is going to be pretty big in the way old JLA / JSA crossovers used to be, except with pre-N52 characters.
Everyone is saying these are rushed fillers, but I don't think so. They're transition issues to the new blended Megaverse.
