Living in the age of Covid has gotten me interested in learning more about the Bubonic Plague. It's fascinating to me, for example, that while the plague spread through China, there is no evidence that it ever made it to Japan's shores. Some have argued that, in the wake of the Japanese civil war, there was limited trade with outside nations, resulting in a lack of opportunity for contamination, and yet there was still some trade happening.
As this is right around the time of Usagi, it would be fascinating if Stan did a story about a village on the sea that contracts the plague, and the efforts that result in it not spreading to the rest of Nippon. I know Stan plans his storylines out years in advance, so it's unlikely we'd ever see such a thing while Covid is still such a part of our lives, but it's still a story I'd be fascinated to read. How did the Japanese deal with highly contagious disease outbreaks? The research would be fascinating.

I love when Stan tackles genres outside his normal style, like the play on War or the Worlds, so something like Andromeda Strain set in Feudal Japan would be a blast.
