Batman/Catwoman #2. Written by Tom King. Art and Cover by Clay Mann. 3 storylines taking place in the past, present & future. They involve Batman, Catwoman, Joker & Andrea Beaumont (Phantasm). The Good: This is a beautiful book. Mann does amazing work. The inclusion of Andrea looking for her lost child. The eternal conflict between Batman & the Joker. With Catwoman added into the mix. The future portion of the story between Catwoman & the Joker was the highlight this issue. The Bad: All the jumping around between the 3 time periods makes the story a bit confusing. Also the story feels like it is going at a slow pace. Again the interaction in the future between Selina & the Joker was outstanding. 7/10.

Iron Fist: Heart of the Dragon #1. Written by Larry Hama. Art by Dave Wachter. Cover by Billy Tan. Larry Hama is writing an old school styled Iron Fist story. Zombie armies. Portals into hidden cities. Dragons. Luke Cage. YES!! One of my favorite Marvel heroes created in the 1970's returns in an action/adventure mini series. This issue had it all. Plenty of action & fighting. Mysticism. Mystery. A nice dense read but not anything that takes itself too seriously. Wachter's art reminds me of a rawer version of Bryne from the 70's. That's a compliment. His action scenes exploded off the page. I had a smile the entire time reading this issue. 8/10.

Nothing really caught my eye this week so I had no books but this sounds fantastic so I'll have to try and find it.

Decided to give a couple future state books a shot....
Superman: Worlds at War #1 : This set up anthology style, with 4 stories (and a $7.99 cover price). Superman is only in like 3 panels. His 'story' are people on Earth reminisicing/wondering what happened to him at some sort of convention in Smallville. Meanwhile, he seems to be on Warworld, getting ready to fight in the arena. To be continued! The other 3 stories feature Mister Miracle, Midnighter, and the Black Racer. They're all converging on Warworld, but why and whose side they are on is up for question.. both Midnighter and MM seem to be the 'regular' versions.. the Black Racer definitely is not. Not a terrible set up, but defnitely not $7.99 worth of comic.
Future State: Nightwing #1 Ties in far too much to the other Bat-tiles for my liking... basically sets up Nightwing's place in the Magistrate's Gotham, leading up to a meet up with the new Batman. It's nice to see Dick kick some butt and be in charge of 'the resistance' in Gotham, but he always seems a smaller character when wedged into the Bat-Universe than when he's with the Titans. Not bad though, I may get the 2nd one.
Abbott 1973 #1 Looks like it will be more of the same from the first series... Abbott is now writing for a different (All Black) newspaper, but they get bought out by a guy who seems to be ready to give her trouble for being a woman. The spooky bad guys defeated in the 1st mini are back as well. While it's still got good writing and great art, not sure I need to read the same story again... we'll see how I feel when #2 comes out.
Once and Future #15 Still feeling a bit lost... this will probably be my last issue. Just too all over the place.
