2020 is finally behind us, thank Odin, and if we can say nothing else about it, we can at least say that it featured one of the most interesting Classic Comics Christmases yet. This year's topic was my idea and I was still taken aback by the amazing selection of talented writers spotlighted... and by the intelligence and eloquence of your assessments of them. It makes me proud to be counted part of this community. And now, before I get all weepy, what say we pause to examine some staggering statistics, shall we? 27 participants cast 304 votes for 115 scripters.
Claiming the gold medal with 15 votes is, not surprisingly, Alan Moore. Moore also garnered the most #1 votes with 4. Coming in at a strong second is Kurt Busiek with 12 votes (3 #1s). Taking the bronze with 11 votes is my mentor Roy Thomas (1 #1). 10 votes: Neil Gaiman (2 #1s), Stan Lee (also 2 #1s) 8 votes: Steve Englehart, Doug Moench (3) 7 votes: John Ostrander (1) 6 votes: Alan Brennert (1), Ed Brubaker(1), Garth Ennis (1), Warren Ellis, Steve Gerber, David Michelinie, Grant Morrison (1) 5 votes: Peter David, Archie Goodwin, Pat Mills (1), Denny O'Neil, Roger Stern, Marv Wolfman 4 votes: Chris Claremont, Gerry Conway, Robert Kanigher 3 votes: Brian Michael Bendis, Max Allan Collins, Arnold Drake, Mark Evanier (1), Bob Haney (1), Harvey Kurtzman (1), Greg Rucka, Jim Shooter, Gail Simone, John Wagner, Matt Wagner, Mark Waid, Len Wein 2 votes: Cary Bates, Mike Baron, Mike W. Barr, Pierre Christin, Dick DeBartolo, Al Feldstein, Bill Finger, Michael Fleisher, Gardner Fox, Rene Goscinny (1), Edmond Hamilton, Tony Isabella, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Bill Mantlo, Don McGregor, William Messner-Loebs, James Robinson, Jerry Siegel, John Stanley, J. Michael Straczynski, Jan Strnad, Bill Willingham 1 vote: Everybody else! Athough American writers made up a slim majority of those selected, there was strong representation by both the British and Franco-Belgian contingents. Writers from Canada, Chile, Croatia, and Japan also made the roster. Alas, only three women were selected: Nancy Collins, Jo Duffy, and Gail Simone. And now, on to your lists!

As always, half the fun of these surveys is seeing why folks chose what they chose. You can see those whys and wherefores in the original threads by clicking on the following links: The ChallengeThe First DayThe Second DayThe Third DayThe Fourth DayThe Fifth DayThe Sixth DayThe Seventh DayThe Eighth DayThe Ninth DayThe Tenth DayThe Eleventh DayThe Twelfth DayThe Near-MissesThose of you who didn't submit all twelve entries should feel free to finish your lists at your convenience and I will update this thread accordingly (but not the stats because I'm not doing all that math again!). For that matter, I never truly consider these surveys closed, so if you're reading this down the line and want to add your own list, please do. All I ask is that you read the Challenge/Advance Warning thread first so you understand the rules and that you post your choices in the original threads. And that's it for another year! Thank you to everyone who participated and a very special “Gracias, mi amigo” to shaxper for stepping in to run things while I was dealing with gastrointestinal hemorraghing and other pesky problems. You da man, shax! Cei-U! I summon the happy new year!

That was an edit that never completed the journey from my brain to my keyboard. It has been corrected (as has my unintentional slighting of Chile's Alejandro Jodorowsky).

As always, thanks for organising this yearly treat Cei-U!. And to your deputy shaxper for running things in your absence. As always, it's been a hoot and has made me think about the hobby I love. When I compiled my list, I thought there would be a good chance I would be only one to nominate Barr and Fleisher. I was happy to be proven wrong. But the big shock for me this year was being the only one to nominate Alan Grant.

Another really enjoyable Classic Comics Christmas event, Cei-U!. Thanks for organising and tabulating the results. Thank you to shaxper too for stepping in when Cei-U! wasn't around.

Doug Moench beat Grant Morrison. I can die a happy man.
Thank you so much for your extreme perseverance and fortitude in giving us another year of Classic Comic Christmas, Kurt!

It appears that Prince Hal’s choices are reversed. His favorite is Finger, not Moench.

It appears that Prince Hal’s choices are reversed. His favorite is Finger, not Moench. That's not a mistake. Hal PMed me and said he'd accidentally posted his choices backward. What I've posted is the corrected list.
