Some of the long-time members here may recall that, in the early days of the CCF, I'd post "State of the Union" threads all the time as a sort of "all hands on deck" update on how members could help to ensure the community's success. It's been a long time, and the CCF has thrived in that time.
It occurred to me recently, though, that there IS more that you can do to help this community's long-term health and success, if you are interested. We don't need your money. We don't need you to blast advertisements on facebook and recruit friends (though you're certainly welcome to!). Instead, what we need is help nurturing content.
You see, as far as I can tell, there are two qualities that separate The CCF from any other online comics community that I know of:
1. We're a lot friendlier than most other places and work hard to keep it that way.
2. We offer some extremely deep and unique content you can't find elsewhere.
You already do so much to nurture that first quality. It's that second part where we could use your help. First off, if you've ever been on the fence about starting a new thread, get off that fence and DO IT! The more there is to discuss, the more this place thrives. And if you've ever considered starting a review thread, check out this helpful guide and DO IT! Or maybe start a new game thread like the Classic Comics Covers contest or the Classic Comic Covers Association Game.
But most importantly--and this is something we all can do--let members know you're reading and appreciating their content! If you see a comic review thread that you like has been updated, give the post a "like" to let the author know you're reading. If you've got something to say, a reply goes even farther, but a simple "like" does a lot to encourage this site's many authors. Be generous with them!
I'd also encourage folks to spend more time checking out and "liking" Off the Racks, a unique feature designed to keep us old fogies up to date on what's being produced today. It's one of my favorite features on this site, and it doesn't get enough attention. Check it out, be generous with the "like" button, and if you're reading any new stuff, add your reviews to the collective whole!
Encourage good posts! Encourage quality content! Encourage the shy new member who made their third post! Your applause means everything around here.
All the best, and have a safe and happy new year!
