Yeah, I could see and hear everyone no problem - so close, but yet so far! I'll try Tartanphantom's suggestions, if I can make them work in Linux (Ubuntu).

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I'm running Ubuntu and unfortunately their Sound-settings doesn't have an option for changing the sample rate for input devices - you can only change the volume. But apparently there's a piece of software (guvcview) you can install that's supposed to allow you to do that so I'll see if it works next time.
Another suggestion I found somewhere was just to buy a newer webcam - it seems that in some cases it's the older ones that cause problems in Ubuntu.

You can also attend the meeting with a cell phone.
Might have to try that too, if nothing else works. Another suggestion I found was to sign in via the Zoom app instead of clicking on the link - but you need a password for the session or meeting or whatever they call it in Zoom.

Hah! Had to look him up to see who he was, but yes, that is a justifiable hypothesis until evidence to the contrary is forthcoming.
We actually had an Alvin and the Chipmunks 45 when we were kids - "My Harmonica" was the song on one side, can't remember the other one, off the top of my head.
But you've given me an idea: instead of all these technical fixes, maybe if I just talk really, really slow and low it'll come out sounding normal.
