There were LA punk bands called the Avengers and the Justice League, although to my regret they never shared a billing together.

Stephen "Tin Tin" Duffy had a couple of hit singles in the 80s with "Kiss Me" and "Icing on the Cake".

Either on purpose or just by coincidence. I'll start with the most obvious one,,Love and Rockets. well, they NAMED themselves after the Comic.
so really, this is a Band who shares their name with a comic title.

metalhead in me must point out, it's not the same.
the band is W.A.S.P.
(and yes, each letter stands for something)

I'll refrain from giving my interpretation, based on their "music." Besides, they were Wasp to anyone who brought them up (never positively, in my circles; but, they can't all be Blue Oyster Cult); so, I stand by my selection.

Besides, they were Wasp to anyone who brought them up (never positively, in my circles; but, they can't all be Blue Oyster Cult); so, I stand by my selection. you can't be imagining anything worse than what the Band themselves had pressed into the vinyl of the 1st album (yep, it's on there, just outside the paper label, pressed into the wax): We Are Sexual Perverts
being a metalhead tho, I love the music. Blackie has released some amazing albums since the last US release (he stopped releasing in the USA due to lack of support from the record labels, but the band remains quite popular overseas, and have continued to release albums regularly since the last official US release in the early 90's).
and one song you may not know / realize was them - is from when Blackie decided to write a "power ballad" - hey power ballads were ALL that were on the radio (thanks Whitesnake!). but this ended up being a pretty big hit for them, so you might know it.
yeah, it's still got Blackie's rough vocal stylings, but the song itself is quite good.

It's a a homophone, but Judge Dredd was named after English reggae and ska musician Judge Dread.

Generation X was an English punk rock band in the late 1970's that also served as Billy Idol's first professional music outfit. Granted, the name itself was second-hand when the band adopted it, but it fits the topic.
Powerman 5000 was a 1990's American rock band.
Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction holds an interesting place on this list. The first part of their name is based on a series of underground comics created by Spain Rodriguez, while the second part is taken from a lyric in the Bruce Springsteen song "Dancing in the Dark".
