So I'm learning more about how ComicLink works as I go. apparently, books seldom sell for their asking price, which must be why they suggested I price higher than I had valued the books.
I received a number of insultingly low offers for FF #5, but finally let it go for $3,299. So that is a major celebration for me. My biggest book by far!
However, the books have been up for a day now, and of the others, only Iron Man #1 has even received an offer (and that was for nearly half price!). So I'm starting to worry a little about getting a reasonable price for the rest.

As I always say, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay no matter what it's graded/priced at. Glad you got a big sale for that FF at least. Hang in there and wishing you more luck!

I imagine that it depends If the seller really needs the money. If you can literally can afford to wait, it’s always better.

Got my final book back from CGC today (Vampirella #1) and listed it on ebay. I'm hoping ComicLink will end up proving to have been a good choice, but I'm concerned with how my remaining books have been doing there. After two weeks, Iron Man #1 and Detective #359 both got one insultingly low offer for almost half what they are worth, Avengers #4 (the hottest book of the bunch) keeps getting offers for $100-$200 less than it's worth, and Albedo #3 has been completely ignored. FF #5 worked out very well, but I think the rest are going to be up there for a very very long time

Well, it's possible that the pandemic is having an effect on buying habits, or it could just be that the focused audience on Comclink isn't broad enough. It costs nothing to list on Comiclink. For a faster, possibly better result, you could pull them down and list them on ebay. Far more people will see your books, but I believe ebay takes a larger chunk of the sale price, and you would have to interact with buyers to a degree.
My personal philosophy is that since I've held onto my books for so long, I don't have narrow margins for sale and I don't need to realize the full value of the books. Example: Chamber of Chills (Harvey) #19 in 5.0 goes for around $4000, but I only have $50 tied up in it. I could offer it for an attractive $3000 and still make an obscene profit.

Unfortunately, I followed the recommendation of shipping my books to ComicLink. It made sense to have them professionally list the books and snap photos that lined up with how everything else being sold looked, but it also means I have to pay return shipping for all those books (AND costly insurance) if I want to list the books somewhere else. I've run the figures on these books pretty closely. With the sale of FF#5, I made up all I invested into buying, grading, shipping, and insuring these books and earned $1,500 net profit on top of that. But I have major home repairs to make and an engagement ring to buy, so I can't afford to cut prices too much.

Ah, I see the problem now. I've never sent books to ComicLink ahead of a sale, thus I didn't think to caution you about that. Patience (if possible) might be the most prudent course now.

I figure the same. I won't need the bulk of that cash until October anyway. I'm just worried this is a sign that I'm never going to see the prices the sales associate from Comiclink suggested. Feeling a bit hoodwinked, I suppose, but if it doesn't improve by late September, I'll just pay the $100+ to ship and insure those books back so that I can list them on ebay. In the end, I still saved nearly $300 in closing fees with Fantastic Four #5.

When you say people are offering $1-200 less than what Avengers is worth, does that mean $8-900, or did they suggest listing high to allow you to haggle and still get what you wanted?
I don't haggle, so this is completely foreign to me.

They suggested listing on the high end of what the books were worth so that there was haggle room, but the offers I'm receiving are exceptionally low.

I just accepted a low but fair offer on Avengers #4: $900. Probably could have gotten $50-$100 more on ebay, but I also would have paid nearly $100 more in fees.
Now I just need the remaining three to show some movement, and they are nowhere near as hot as the two that have sold.

Vampirella #1 just sold for $490 on ebay, just $10 shy of what I'd hoped to get for it. No complaints!
However, the three books still listed on ComicLink have had absolutely zero activity since those two absurdly low offers I mentioned a long while back. I'm giving it one more week and then paying to ship them back to me.
My hot water heater died yesterday, and I'm spending $850 on a new one today, so I'm glad I've got this cash coming in! Still need to pay for a $1,500 roof issue, repaint and refurnish an entire bedroom for my (soon to be) step son, and then buy an engagement ring. Sheesh. Boy am I glad I collect comics!

Have to like 👍 and 😭 both for you Shax on this one. Glad you made money on Vampi and it is tough ComicLink isn't going anywhere for you. Home repairs truly do hit the ol' wallet pretty hard and always seem to come at the worst possible times. I had a small portion of my carport ceiling's drywall crack loose and dropped from it having been nailed improperly instead of being screwed in to support the weight. Had the $ to fix but it took all winter getting quotes for repair and correctly having the rest placed with screws. Finally found someone to do the repair in February after 2 others kept scheduling and then never showing. Be certain to get qualified roofers and not someone tossing out the lowest quote trying to get your money. I see in my neighborhood with guys flying through for roof repairs literally doing sn entire roof job in 2 days. Having family who do construction and roofing I know that means some inferior and shoddy work! Get certified professionals so you aren't having to repair faulty work.

I struggle with how to find qualified people. I've used folks recommended by friends and been burned. I've used Angie's List and been burned. This time around, I sort of crowd-sourced recommendations, went with someone who got really strong recommendations, and when he came out for the estimate (I saw two other companies too), he came in slightly lower and, more importantly, came across as a likeable, honest guy who wasn't making me unrealistic promises about how fast he could get it done. So that's the way I'm going. Hopefully it will pay off.
